Why would Hakon leave Kentucky? They have a good program there. I think that he is staying and was not planning to go with Floreal.

And you think that will be his choice.. when a new head coach is hired what do you suppose will most likely happen? What do most head coaches do when they arrive somewhere. Is herbster “choosing” to stay at UT?
Why would you be so sure he has a choice? The new coach will be allowed to keep whoever he or she wants on staff
We sure are chatting about an insignificant job in UNC, how about the front runners for Kentucky, Texas staff, Washington staff?
Nope. I just like the guy. Sue me.
That’s very evident that you like the guy. Since you like him so much then you may want to advise him to look for a new job.

Funny! Someone took my name and posted this. He probably will be but who knows. I also like Herbster. Maybe they will get the chance to work together at UNC or Texas soon.
who left ucla?
One of the track/xc coaches left UCLA
Jen Derego women’s distance coach is apparently not going to be coaching at ucla next season. I imagine the rest of the staff will remain in place.

I remember when she got hired a lot of people on here were saying that was a bad hire and she wouldn’t last.. guess they got it right
How does one get in touch with Powells @ Washington, I want to work there.

They'll find you if they want you.
Whats the word on Notre Dame? LSU throws? Washington Staff? Illinois is looking for a quality female for their position.
Wait? Why? Didn't see have someone qualify for nationals in the 10k?
Did she get the CSU San Marcos job?
Anyone know who is getting that one?
Is it me or does the hiring process this year seem very slow?
I know UT held up the process with other schools making their selections of candidates but with as many jobs that are open you would think there would have been more announcements made by now since we are now 2 weeks past NC’s and there’s really not much post-NCAA wise this year.
There’s been more jobs opening (coaches taking other positions, resigning/retirement, etc...) in the last week then there’s been hirings in the last two months. August 1st is only 6 weeks away, and we’ve really only heard about UT and Washington.
Anyone have any feedback ? The biggest thing that comes to mind is if 5-6 coaches leave their university for another position, that’s 5-6 jobs that still have to be filled before school starts....
Most coaches' contracts are up on June 30; public/State Universities have to follow state HR policies and cannot post vacant positions until those jobs are actually vacant (July 1). Even then, some HR personnel behind a desk across campus has to actually post the position, which is a slow process over summer when most University employees take vacation.
So you won't see many postings for jobs until early July.
Then, once posted, there is a period to collect and look over resumes, conduct interviews, makes offer(s), await on acceptance/counter offers, then finally a position is accepted.
This creates an opening at another institution, and the process repeats; sometimes leading up to the start of cross country season.
Thank you Human Resources!

Very good observation.
