Those are impressive results and we know you have a foothold in Kenya with a good runner in the city of Nakuru.
For those who don’t know the wizard JS, he has a training method of low mileage of about 50 to 60 miles a week which he claims can bring athletes to a level of around 2:05- 210 or better in the marathon.
He has had several Kenyans on his books at different times. JS is a kind of philanthropist because he trains Kenyan runners for free, however European runners, American runners, and runners from developed countries should be prepared to pay a small fee for the magic to work.
JS is also a former elite national level runner in Sweden with best times of 1420, 2950, 106, and 222 (5000/10,000, half thon, full thon). In my book, he would be a good coach for those kind of levels for sure because he achieve them himself. I think his marathon training system is still a work in progress so patience is needed for most people.
He is a nice man although some of his training methods and philosophy have garnered a certain amount of controversy on other threads but don’t let that deter you. First you should discuss with him before signing a contract, and then you can decide whether or not to give it a trial.
Remember the saying, “the cover of a book is not necessarily representative of what you find inside.” His somewhat unorthodox (low mileage by most criteria) coaching system may suit some people.
