Last xc season I Probably ran about 20mpw. Then in Track ran 25-30. This year ran about 25-35 before the season started.
But the problem is that the coach is giving me these 30 minute runs and telling me to go by feel during the season
So I'll do 2 workouts a week. A long run on the weekend and track workout in the middle of the week. Then a tempo every two-three weeks.
But the problem is that the only distance I'm getting is when I have a Friday off or There isn't a Saturday meet, But during the week we'll go out for these really easy 20-30 minute runs and i mean like 11 minute pace
Then there's the team
Most of the girls on the team just don't really want it you know... They don't run over the summer or winter. They don't care if they're competitive or not. But at the same time...how can you be competitive if you aren't good? How can you be competitive if no is committed?
There's also coaching problems.
She was a pole vaulter and coaches pole vaulting for track. It just seems like she's in it for the pay check. She doesn't seem to know anything about running. She's low mileage. (20-25mpw) It seems like she's just attempting to write workouts.
Has anyone else had experiences with a weak team or a coach that doesn't know what they're doing?
How much can they impact your training/performance?
