I was searching this weekend's results and saw that Eddy ran a 1:17 half marathon at Myrtle Beach. Was this purely a training run or did something really go wrong?

How can that be considered a training run? Training for what? The Leadville 100?
What's even more puzzling was that this course was pancake flat. I know the wind was supposedly bad, but 1:17 seems a bit odd. He also finished 5th in the race. It surely doesn't sound like him.
I think he just ran with GP. He was there as a guest speaker the night before.
It was a very humid day, around 95%. Winds were around 15mph, with a section on ocean drive between 4 and 8.5+ with a direct headwind running into the south.
Yes, it is pancake flat. If you look at all the times, you won't find many impressive ones in the half or the full. It was a day off training runs blisters.
The marathon winner who seemed to think he was in 2:29 shape ran 2:39+.
That was my impression anyways.
