I am a post college runner and I just recieved word that I do have a stress fracture (first time I have had one). I was wondering how long something like this lasts (the orthopedic surgeon said I am out for 10-12 weeks....but that seems pretty long, especially when I can walk around without any pain....obviously I will listen to the doctor, but wouldn't mind hearing how long it took other people to recover)....I have also been biking (1hour and 10 mins) and pool running (1hour 30 minutes) once a day (one or the other once a day).....How much will this keep up my fitness? Does anyone have experience doing different types of workouts, or different activities I can try? This is going to be a boring 10 weeks.
a typical pool workout will consist of 1min easy, 2min medium, 3 min hard (repeated 10 times with a 20 min warm up and a 10 min cool down)
a typical bike workout I do is 1 hour 10 min at usually the medium level (5 of 10) at 115rpm (should I be going for distance on the bike?)
