"Down with bu huggers"? I'm all for that.
I'd like to hear ONLY the opinions of girls who run cross country, regardles of what they wear. Few reasons why:
1. It affects them the most.
2. I would honestly love to hear a half-way rationalization from someone pro-huggers. Because they seem an unnecessary change from running shorts.
To me this falls in the same category as leggings. I know why you're wearing leggings and you know why you're wearing leggings, and frankly I'm judging you for it.
The way I read it, the school bought the uniforms before the season. The rules allow for options, but the school only has what they already bought.
If you are thin enough to run cross country, it shouldn't matter. The ones complaining are probably fatties.
+1. The article says the girls were given the choice of bunhuggers or shorts and 85-90% chose the buns. As I would too in their position. The briefs are more comfortable, faster, more professional, more grown up - basically all positives, in return for a teensy bit of butt exposure that's less than you'd have when swimming.
Maybe a few fatties are feeling self conscious in their shorts while the thinner and more competitive girls race ahead in their competition briefs. They just need to lose the weight and ask their coach to upgrade them to bun huggers.
When they get to college (if they do) these girls will likely be given briefs and told to wear them, no shorts allowed. Might as well get used to them now.

I hate to sound like a feminist, but there's no good reason young girls need to wear bun huggers for cross country or track. Volleyball girls don't need to wear those shorts. Its nothing short of childhood sexualization. Really.
Wouldn't a feminist say the ladies should get to choose whatever shorts they want?
The bunhuggers are ugly. Plain and simple. Ban 'em I say.
The person that should make the decision about whether or not a runner should wear bunners is the runner.
Not if the runner is a minor.
Heh

D1-bound high school senior girl here. My high school doesn't wear bun huggers, but likely college does. I don't understand the point of these, are they supposed to like make you faster in races?

I wear leggings because they are comfortable.
Don't understand the difference visually from bug huggers and spandex: its literally a few inches of skin and my spandex would always ride up anyways.

Okay girls, down with your bun huggers!
Must the bun huggers come down?
And there is the problem.
The girls who do have a weight problem and are uncomfortable with "bun huggers" should not have to be pressured by low life individuals like these two. I hope neither of you are coaches!
The only kind of "help" for that situation is to go the Bruce/Caitlyn Jenner route, and even that may not be 100% effective.Creeper wrote:

^a common lie about why someone wears leggings. Sweatpants are comfortable, but the cool pretty girls weren't wearing sweatpants before they switched to leggings.
Leggings (probably) are comfortable, but the fact that you list that as the reason you wear them is called rationalization and it's a defense mechanism.

I’m quite conservative politically, socially, financially, etc., but I don’t think of those uniforms and being sexual. It’s sports. What are girls on the swim team or gymnastics supposed to wear? I can see a problem with low cut tops because there would be no functional reason for that, but nobody does that. There are enough problems in this world to deal with. Our hyper-sexed cesspool of a society is not that way because of girls’ sports uniforms.
Best. Subject. Line. Ever.
Ha ha.
Milesplit poll after 6000+ votes is running 90% in favor of buns!!
The outraged parent loses.
Alright, I'll play along. Sweatpants look sloppy. The "exposure" of leggings is no different than skinny jeans. What do you think is appropriate attire for a young woman? I'm curious.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
