How accurate is this? Athlete I work with is being heavily recruited by a Utah school. Not BYU.

When I finally decided to move back east after a couple years and was cleaning out my apartment , I had 34 copies of the Book of Mormon given to me by different folks. Take it from me, Joseph Smith was exceedingly fond of the term " and it came to pass" . I kept a few copies to give to JWs who come to my front door.
Yeah...and that's probably why SLC isn’t getting overpopulated like this damn Denver that I live in. I know when I vacationed in SLC a few years ago, none of that BS you mentioned happen to me. I met some of the nicest people ever in SLC. And the low alcohol-related motor vehicle accidents and other low alcohol-related crap is impressive...I felt far safer on the roads of SLC than here. SLC isn’t a high-powered drinking city like most other major cities in this nation. In fact, I was recently hit by some stupid ass drunk that just moved here from California (imagine that). An the wreck has had an impact on my running. 😠. I wish I could relocate to SLC and get out of this high-powered drinking city! So, quit bad mouthing Utah & the Mormons...they run a tight ship over there! And be careful you don't get hit by some DUI driver in whatever city you reside in!

They can't all stay virgins till their wedding night.
0/10 👎 ""Immature idiot alert" 😅
These schools get huge improvement out of their distance runner athletes because they tend to not be a bunch of drunken idiots. That is the truth. I have no affiliation to LDS or any schools in Utah. I will say that they also have a ton of very pretty women. You can say what you want about the religion but there is no doubt that they are doing something right!

It's the real deal in at BYU. No drunken goofballs roaming the campus making "cat calls" at the wee hours of morning. No pot smoke filled dorm hallways. No beer cans & bottles littered the campus area. The "honor" in the honor code means something to those young men & women.

Only BYU...as in Brigham Young University 👠(bet you didn't know that the famous retired 49er QB Steve Young is a direct decedent of Brigham Young 🤔).
I can't be terribly impressed by a BYU education if it produces people who don't know the difference between "decedent" and "descendant."
And it's not clear that there were any "direct decedents" of Brigham Young--he personally may not have killed anyone, and he probably did not order the Mountain Meadows massacre.
This is absolutely not true. My husband and I are not Mormon and we moved to Utah about 3 years ago. We have had no issues with Mormons coming to our door or trying to convert us. We are Christians and go to a local Christian church, so maybe they just steer clear for that reason. We have Mormons, Christians, and non-religious neighbors on our street and are friendly with all of them. I've never had a doctor advise me to go to temple, or strangers talk to me and then bring up Brigham Young. Yes, you can't deny the Mormon influence in Utah, but I have never experienced any of the things you mentioned.

Why would anyone care to impress you?
You are most likely Mormon and Mormons grossly and unceasingly overstate the benefits of total abstinence vs drinking in moderation like most people do. They absolutely fixate on alcohol. Mormons are great, but there are plenty of fat and unhealthy Mormons out there. Plenty on depression medication, more than average. So don’t kid yourself.
Not very, it's a gross exaggeration. Mormons do believe in "sharing the gospel," but generally they are too scared to approach neighbors or strangers. I live in the South and I get more Mormons at my door than I did when I lived in SLC.

Lady, Mormons are Christians. Broaden your horizons a little, and realize that "Christian" applies to more than just people who think/worship exactly the way you do.

That's not LIVING in Salt Lake. Get an apartment. Stay a while. You'll have people knocking on your door trying to convert you. If you stick close to downtown, it seems to be a much more accepting environment with a little bit of everyone. A place like Provo, you'd be very isolated. You may as well consider yourself a monk in a town like St. George.
I'm not sure how you think SLC isn't a drinking city.. They have the same problems every other city has only you buy your liquor from a government-run liquor store and other strange rules.
Without a doubt, there are lots of very nice people there who share a few traits of a non-LDS athletic person. But it is not at all like most mid-size cities in the U.S. when you live there.
Mormons are creepy weirdos. Period. I've been through Utah, stayed in SLC, and the sea of white, perfectly coiffed and oddly conformist people made me feel endlessly uncomfortable.
The bizarre teachings, the massive stores of grains, the weird requirements about alcohol and caffeine, it's all just....weird. That the entire enterprise was spun as a complete and obviously fraudulent fabrication, by a nascent criminal, underpins the weird juxtaposition of the current day "church" as a self-styled paragon of righteousness.
Ewwww.
Ick.

FACTS. They sometimes do an OK job of trying to pretend otherwise but that's only for $$$ and to get converts.
I have empathy for kids raised in any religion-- knucklehead proselytizing ones especially-- but there's no reason anyone sentient enough to ask questions need go along with it.
I won't even get into the whole thing with Mormons & the Jews-- not that it's antagonistic, quite the contrary, it's just ridiculous.
Re: Utah generally, it's been all downhill since the white man arrived, though there here some white women who could use a good spanking

Would you ever say that you've been through south central LA or Baltimore and the sea of browns and blacks looking desperate and menacing made me feel feel uncomfortable?

Mormon is a half-step more 'respectable' than Scientology only because the guy folded Jesus into it. If anyone wants to 'believe,' fine, but the fraudulent, self-serving accounts of their history is ludicrous...
And yes, someone, please tell us about the Mormons and their special interest in the Jewish 'tribes' of Israel etc; thank you.
