The results are posted for the GMU meet. He won easily.
Is it true he was trying to break 2:20?

Some guy from JMU (Fraser?)led the first 200m in about 27-28, Webb followed in 2nd. Then Webb led hitting 400m in about 56. Chris Hendrix-Buxton was about 2-3 meters behind Webb from 400m-600m, where Webb hit 600m at 1:24-1:25. Hendrix-Buxton made a move on Webb with about 300m to go. At the bell lap, hit in about 1:54, Hendrix-Buxton was a step infront of Webb. Webb passed him about 25m into the last lap and beat Hendrix-Buxton by 2 seconds. 2:23.61 v. 2:25.53. All in all it was an exciting race.
That's another PR, I believe.
Also, Richard Smith got second in the 8 in a time of 1:51.10, not to shabby. It will be interesting to see what he does next year at Auburn.
29 second last 200?
Huh?
This is the first I've heard about him going to Auburn. I'm glad to read that he's capitalizing on his track talents and getting an education out of it.
i think thats an unfounded rumor (Smith going to Auburn), correct me if I'm wrong.
Webb's on the entry list for the indoor USATF mile. Personally, I see Lunn and Stember getting 1-2, with Webb in the mix for 3rd.
It's been in the paper and I live really close to them, it's pretty founded. This fall Richard will be at Auburn you can bank on it.
Goto Auburn's Sports website. Track section. Theres a press release about next falls recruits and Smith is in there.
you think that is good?!?!??! I saw results for a Kansas State Meet where Charlie Gruber ran 2:23.55 ALL BY HIMSELF. I hear that track is pretty hard to run on, and I think that is awesome....he must be getting real fit real fast. Does anyone know if he is sponsored?
Yeah, K-State's indoor track has super tight turns. Not the best track.
Gruber's chances of doing anything on the US national scene went right out the window when he agreed to become a pacer. (maybe he is auditioning to become an ESPN interviewer)
When you agree to pace, you are subconsciously telling yourself that you aren't ever going to be good enough to beat the big boys. Whoever coached him on this decision blew it.
Well he also did race the night before if you dont remember?!?! It think he will be up there duking it out in whatever he runs, he is seems like a tough dude!
Back in 2001 everyone thought that Webb will challenge El-G in 2-3 years, now Alan runs 3:59 and EL-G 2x4:03 back to back.
Didn't Graham Hood just pace for Geb? He ain't too shabby.
Abdi Bile also did some pacing prior to winning his World Championship. The list goes on if you care for more evidence.
The last time Webb ran 3:59 indoors, he ran 3:53 in the following outdoor season(PreClassic a few months later). Will history repeat itself? No American has run a faster mile since.(I know that doesn't mean shit; but it sounds good)
