Yes this also happened to my niece.
DI teams in particular do not do a good job recruiting. In some cases I think the coaches of those teams may be a bit pompous and get their jobs because they were a great athlete. Yes, I admit to jealousy. However just because you were a natural athlete does not mean you have the talent to coach or the toughness/desire to recruit.
