Guys, I said it on the other thread related to this, but last year even Karl Meltzer himself, not long after setting the "supported' record, said that he considered his record to be a soft record. Basically said he expected it to be broken quickly and that it could easily go down by a good amount of time...I don't remember the article or interview (probably irunfar(dot)com) but said a younger person that stayed injury free and had fast hiking experience would do it as he left a lot of time out there on the trail because of the injuries. This is what Joe has. Youth, injury free (for the most part) and fast hiking experience. It's really not that inconceivable for him to do this.
