Desi Linden. Granted, she was a 2 time all american in college. But there's a huge gap between that level and where she is today.

Nick Symmonds was a good D3 guy but nothing predicted what was to come. Drew Windle was a D2 national champ but how many D2 guys go on to make World teams?
Nonsese.
He ran 1:45 in college!

I heard he didn't run cross in HS. Played FB. That's unusual right there. A former football guy turns into a 3:36/3:54 guy. That's off the charts unusual. Looks like a former FB guy too. Not your typical distance/ Mid-distance build.
The only difference is now he's a vegan and much much faster. Coincidence.....?

Bryan Berryhill played high school football, too. He was an NCAA 1500 champ, but he did lose to Alan Webb when Webb was a HS senior.
Matt Llano was a good college runner but not great. Good marathoner now.

Bill Rodgers of Wellsley
Frank Shorter of Yale
Jeff Galloway of Wellsley
Frank Shorter won the '69 NCAA 6M by 23 seconds and then took 2nd in the 3M by 1.5 seconds tow days later. He was literally the best distance runner in the nation that Spring.
Jeff Galloway ran for Wesleyan. Wellesley College is a private women's liberal arts college located west of Boston in the town of Wellesley, He ran 4:12 for 1Mile and 14:10 for 3M. I would agree that 14:10 for 3M does not portend making the 10k team just a few yrs later and running 28:29.
Couple from VA: Christopher Landry and Tim Young
Christo is a national champion and has been a common top-5 finisher on the US road circuit for the past 7-8 years, but he was never a total stud at W&M. In fact, one year he was DFL at XC nationals.
Tim was mediocre in HS, then his college program was cut after his freshman year, but he went on to run 1:03/2:14 and place highly nationally on the roads.
I think both of these guys would be great inspiration to the OP as examples of guys who stuck with it and made big jumps post-collegiately.
With that apostrophe in the subject, I don't think the OP went to college or even high school.
Hint: A good place to go for GOOD answers to this question is NOT the University of Oregon.

Definitely.
Not American, but Sinead Diver didn’t run in college and is now Australia’s top female marathoner
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
