I guess we will never know. Very exciting finish. Chelimo tried to force his way between Farah and Edris, the latter clearly lost his balance before the finish line. Thoughts?

chelimo should be disqualified.
Thats all.
I think it was so close, that it may have been possible for edris to win, if it wasn't for chelimo stupidity.kejelcha and edris would've beat him, he just plain cheated at the end.
Paul Chelimo!
Mo was going to win anyway, but Chelimo has proven to have a nasty habit of causing these types of contact in the track.
More than happy for Chelimo to be aggressive at the end here in a DL race. If he had done it at the end of the World Champs, I would not have been pleased.

I think Chelimo had more speed than the other 2 the last 100m and if had enough room could have passed both....but he didn't and yeah, definitely pushed edris off balance

Of course Chelimo would have won, he was the one boxed in and trying to break through. I video timed the last 200 in 26, that's fast for 1500, freakishly fast for a 5000.
Knew this thread would appear.
Fresh legs and Mo wins - no surprise for me.
Sorry Rojo, Edris wasn't better in London, just fresher.
Good race though.

Edris was on his way down before Chelimo cuts across him. Watch the vid back.
I watched that race on YouTube and Chelimo did nothing wrong. You weak, pathetic fools that are crying are an embarrassment to mankind. And how much more bias can those British commentators be, they had their excuses ready in case Mo lost. And I'm sure those idiots do all their research on LRC. Great race by Mo, and everybody else BTW. And if I was Chelimo, I would have pulled my penis out at the end of the race
Watch the replay. When they come off the final turn, Edris is out wide and Chelimo is in between Farah and Edris. The rule is they have to hold their line from that point out. Edris actually comes in on Chelimo trying to hold him off, which initiates the contact. Chelimo is not at fault here.
From the close up replay provided in LRC's recap, it looked as if edris leaned too soon before the finish for his dive. His mid timing resulted in him hitting the ground and giving Paul an upright opening to the finish where he could lean his head first. But the close up replay may have cut off something earlier
Appropriate image at the finish with the legendary Mo Farah still on his feet after another victory while the two Ethiopians destined for obscurity were splattered on the track and on top of each other.
I like Chelimo but his racing strategy and instincts are awful in traffic. It's like the opposite of Jenny Simpson, who always deciphers the clear path late in a meaningful race to maximize her position
Edris would have won the race if he did not try to leap towards the finish line.
The .gif in the race recap seems pretty evident to me. Chelimo throws a hand on both Edris and Farah, going so far as putting a hand around Farah's elbow. He clearly pulls himself forward in the last couple meters. I think Farah had the race over Edris regardless but a dirty move from Chelimo to try and force some space where there wasn't.
The only reason he had to do that was because Edris changed his line. Coming off the curve he was on the middle/outside of lane two and Chelimo was between he and Farah. At the end he comes in to the line of lane1/2 in attempt to cut off Chelimo. Chelimo was in the right.
at roughly 32 to 34 seconds in that video, Edris is right in the middle of lane 2, while Farah is inside in 1 and Chelimo just behind the two of them close to the line between 1 and 2. Edris starts to move in closer to the finish and Chelimo literally has nowhere to go. Notably, Edris starts to lean or fall well before the finish with the cause uncertain until Chelimo literally pushes him over (and pushes Farah as well). Chelimo arguably is only holding his line the whole way to the line and Edris was not and tried to close out Chelimo just as he and Kejelcha were doing in the final straight in London with both Chelimo and Farah.

Nope. Watch at full speed. Edris was already diving for it, and that's why he went down. Chelimo had no where to go, so he was standing up, checking his speed at the finish. To me, it looks like his arms were out as a protective move, liked you would do running through brush, rather than a shove.
It looked to me like Edris was tying up regardless. He wasn't going to beat Farah. It did look to me like Chelimo pushed Edris a bit, which allowed Chelimo to get past him.
Chelimo had something left in the final 50 meters but no way to get around the 2-3 people in front of him, so he tried to squeeze between Edris and Farah. If Chelimo weren't boxed in he might have had a chance against Farah in the final meters.
