I predict much of the meet will be disappointing. I believe that the 5k will be won in over 13min. I believe that Farah will win because he will not be coming back from a 26:49.

Who cares, honestly who gives a flying crap
I hadn't paid too much attention to the DL restructuring up to this point, but looking at those starting lists, it was clearly a good move. Virtually everybody important who qualified to be in those races is in them. We finally have something approaching a track "major", like golf and tennis have.
I agree that this struture change has been a good move. However, for the distances races, I wish they would start rewarding fast times. The current system makes people run just to win, which is great at the world champ stage, but for the circuit is just boring. Farah's "I will only go for a fast time if I am forced to by the other competitor's" to sum up everything wrong with modern distance running. Now that the WRs are so far out of reach, there needs to be an incentive to run fast since there is no hope of getting the WR bonus. Rewards for say, sub 13:00, sub 12:55, sub 12:50, ect, would push athletes to run fast again.
I didn't see one listed.
I don't think Coburn wins. Breaking 9:00 would be nice but it all depends on how emotionally drained she is from that great performance at Worlds.
Will Semenya be pushed to run sub 1:55 to win the 800 ????

+1 All excellent points here.
Bekele said in an interview that more and more long distance talents skip the track and go straight to the marathon because there not enough money in the diamond league
Diamond League can't even compete with the Mongols. Compare this thread to the ones about yurts and yogurts.

Ronald Kwemoi, the man who easily outkicked everyone including Paul Chelimo in the 3K in Doha is running! This is his first serious 5K race and if he has recovered from his injuries, he could easily dislodge Mo Farah with his vicious kick. I understand why no one is talking about him but nonetheless he should not be ignored.

None are excellent points.
It's the end of a long season. What follows a World Championship is anticlimactic. The season is already over, physically and mentally. Focus, anticipation and energy have been replaced by a growing ennui. The athletes are ready to go home.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UF2gA6NfyGQMuktar Edris, the man who easily outkicked everyone including Paul Chelimo and Mo Farah is running too! Far out.

^ this
So obvious that most people on this forum have no idea what it's like to run a hard 10k and try and double back, probably because they haven't even run a 10k in their lives
"People You've Got The Power Over What We do"

Great line in great song.
**Emma does not break 9:00 *(tired, just ran 8:48 for 3K flat, possibly burned out from WC
**Farah runs 12:56-- don't know if he can win with that.
Have a nice day, All!

if he is over his injuries (which i doubt) i do think he could be a darkhorse especially in a slow race....will definitely be an interesting race to watch
Farah told us today he think he could have run a 5k in 12:45.
Well this thread somehow hasn't been made yet, so here is the letsrun preview:

Well, looks like its raining still:
Mens 1500m: I think Managoi has got this, however, I think asking the pacer to stay in that long is a mistake, I think they will slow down on the third lap. I say 3:31 wins.
Womens steeplechase. I love that their going for a fast time here, Chepkoech and Chespol are capable of that time. Should be a good race.
Womens 800m: if semenya goes for time, she will run at least 1:54, that negative split in london was ridiculous. Just as ridiculous as semenya running with the women is.
Mens 5000m: Edirs has been so strong this season. I think he has this race, as for time, If the field decides to go with the pacers, the pacers do their job, and the field wants a fast time, then I think Edirs can get close to 12:50, and maybe even break it. Of course, this is the diamond league, so that likely isn't happening. I think a 12:58 ish is more likely.
