Because I am running the fastest times of my life in my 30s and only 15mins off the Olympic trials qualifying time. I know I have no chance of making the OT standard but I enjoy training hard and being fit and also kicking butt in my local road races. The training is also extremely meditative and relaxing. The training helps me perform better at my job and as a husband. I feel resilient and that any life obstacle I run into i can overcome. If I can do an 18miler with 12 of those miles at marathon pace even at 2am, i can do anything
