Being born white gave me far more privileges than having money. Very few places in society take your wealth into consideration (having parents be donors to a school is one of those areas), but showing up white to every job interview, rental interview, car dealership, and bank has given me far more return than money sitting in a bank.
I went to high school with a close friend who was black. His father a Doctor, his Mother, a lawyer. They were able to attend all the sports fundraisers, pta meetings, and events.
I am white, my father a custodian and part time limo driver, my mother a secretary.
My friend while no more athletically inclined always managed to be a "starter" on the teams since his dad was able to be free to coach and hob nob. He had his first car bought for him, he had the nicest parties growing up. He went on to a 4 year school paid by his parents then an advanced degree, and now works for a large financial firm.
I did community college, got a blue collar job and am pursuing my bachelors.
Money was the advantage. Not race.
