HELL YEAH JENNY!!!
HELL YEAH JENNY!!!
Obviously she is in terrible shape. You determined this based upon what race since she won the US championship?

I don't know how she does it... How she places in fields like this is incredible!!!!!
She does it because she's one of the smartest middle distance runners in the history of the sport.
Of course she's got plenty of talent, works her tail off, is fully committed, and everything else. But more than any other one factor, is her racing skill and intelligence. She's simply second to none in that category.
True of course, but it's still incredible!!!

Simpson is just lucky. Nothing more. She's in bad shape.
If it's true she's in bad shape, then that makes her race all that more spectacular.
Anyone know where to find a video of the race? I didn't see it on the NBC website but maybe it's not available without purchasing the gold package?
Thanks!
Ms Simpson is not the picture of femininity either.
Goes home devastated as one of the best losers.
Anyone know what she closed the last 400 in? Was she the fastest? I saw the 300 time the recap posted and that she was second only to Semenya but would be curious how fast she closed the full lap...especially since she has a considerably slower 800 PR than all those ladies that finished 1-5...always find her closing to be crazy ... at the 90-100m point you can literally see how fast she accelerates relative to everyone else, insane.
Remember that Aerosmith song "Dude Looks Like a Lady". Sorry but that dude looks like a dude.
1. Works hard
2. Tough: she is gutting it out that last 100 like no one's business. I think I read about one of her other closes that her last 800 was faster than her 800 PR--that's a racer! When championship time comes, it's game on for her! Her initial success in the steeplechase was probably an early indicator of her toughness.
3. Smart: she knows her fitness, times her peaks, runs within herself, gets herself into position to win/place, and navigates positioning on the track extremely well.
It'd be hard to argue that she's the most talented, but she's a superlative racer! She's fun to watch!
Congrats to her and thanks from a fan's perspective!

+1
Agreed. Jenny always competes and this is another great result.

Say what you want about Simpson, but she gets it done when it comes to championship racing. Oly silver...WC gold, silver, bronze (?)....
Hassan needs to get with the American program, hang back and run for second like the great Jennifer Simpson. Hassan runs to win, very unAmerican.
If you award 5 points for a win, 3 for silver and 1 for bronze for each Olympics or World Champs (DL for 2014 where there was no major games) since 2011, the scores are:
Simpson - 17 (19 without Aregawi)
Kipyegon - 13
Aregawi - 11
Dibaba - 8
England - 3 (4 without Aregawi)
Hassan - 2 (4 2ithout Aregawi)
If we remove Aregawi as having been caught doping, Simpson moves to 19 points. Like all stats you can choose what it proves...most successful, most consistent, most....?

You're such a sad little pathetic troll. Go home and suck your thumb while you pee in your diaper.

Yea true. The mostly black women that are accused of "being men" are so probably because the white guys on this board don't find them conventionally attractive or feminine enough looking.

Heard someone tell her 58 something on one of the interviews, which makes sense given that's what her 300 split translates to. Semenya's was surely faster. She was in 10th at the bell, Jenny in fourth.

Ehh? What planet are you on? Distance runners aren't appealing in general, whatever color they are. Not Semenya for sure. But overall we think black women are HOTT and we post about this here. You know, threads like, HoTT Black sprinTeRGiRLs etc. Thompson, Ottey, FoXXy etc. And I'm not the only one, Doug likes them dark too. We're the ones who have the balls to admit this. Many of you secretly agree but you spinelessly pretend not to to appease your racist, hillbilly, Trumpkin neighbors. The only reason you could imagine black women are not attractive is that you are not man enough to have fVcked any of them....
Just rewatched the video a couple times and it's not easy to get the splits. Jenny and Semenya hit 800 to go pretty close together, with Caster just on Jenny's shoulder. It was hard to tell exactly when they crossed the line at that point, but got Jenny in roughly 2:01 mid for the last 800. But Caster clearly closes the last 400 in maybe half a second faster than Jenny, 57 mid versus 57 high or 58 even.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
