Its amazing how soft some of you people are. "Don't condone violence" "unacceptable behavior and lost his job"
Sometimes a man punching another man in the face is necessary. Sometimes that's the best way to get someone back in line.
I didn't read the story but if the coach had anything to do with his not being selected, the punch was necessary and applaudable. Back to reality with that coach.
GOOD NEWS: Beyo was named to Ethiopia's 2020 Olympic boxing team in the bantam weight division.
I agree with Wejo. Athlete's behavior unacceptable. You don't fo punching people because you don't agree with their decision. However, I can see him ripping his shirt off being that upset.
Rojo, why on earth would you want to start a go fund me page for this runner? To pay his watch to watch the WC. Or to go through anger management.
BTW why do you guys post an unrelated photo on the front page. It's not even two Ethiopian runners fight. If you guys keep doing retarded things like that, I'm boycotting ur website for at least 2 hours.

Also, what would a go fund me accomplish?
I don't how you can tell someone you can't do your profession for two years simply because you punched someone.
Well, it happens all the time, everywhere around the world.
The guy could/should be in jail or prison for assault, battery, attempted murder, etc.
I don't know anything about this other than what I read on the first page of this thread. But maybe this guy is a real pain in the ass (the type of guy who would punch his coach) and the Federation did not want to have to put up with him, and that is why he was left off the team. Just a possibility...
Again, violence has no place in athletics. I'm not the one who is lying. You have no clue. Sad,
Re Rio the athlete is an active member of the oromo front and unfortunately, he used the olympics for his politics.
I'm not saying there is no political problem. But it's so exaggerated and the situation is much better than before. Again it's nothing to do with politics. The person who is selected on Chala's place is from the same ethnic group if that is what you are trying to say. Haile and Ken have very convincing interview.
The interview is in Amharic. Here is the link.
National federations should not have the power to select athletes for Championship events. IAAF has its own set of qualifying standards and quotas. If an athletes achieves the standard in a set period, for example March to July, longer for the road events, and a ranking within the quota for the event, then they get to go. Simple. I would get tid of the two wild cards as well, especially the one for winning the previous DL. DL is more about consistency than absolute performance. WC wild card is meaningless really since it is from a performance slightly less than 2 years ago. Anyway for the athletes if they want to bypass the incompetence ans corruption of their national federations then their are always countries like Qatar, Bahrain and the Emirates to run for. I would get rid of National Trials too, Stupid and athlete having to peak 2 months before their Championship event.
Besides the John Capriotti example on how the punishment is to big for the crime and how opposite is it to the U.S, another example is that of eating tainted meat or kissing so much to an extent of a positive drug test and not get punished at all
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
