What a "talented" young man. He may have some strong ability to work hard and be dedicated, but he's not here just on "talent." I think people misuse the word talent -- Windle got here by working his ass off and improving consistently since his break-out his senior year of HS.
Yeah, that was a great MF race. That is what we want, just give stuff like that all day, and the rest will fall into place.
If they build it, it will come.
Must be a huge PR for Arroyo.

Exactly!
The word talent or genetics is frowned upon in ethiopia and kenya, because they know that they develop from a certain way of life, putting in the training, and acquiring good nutrition.
Virtually the whole 2nd page of this thread is a bunch of you guys bellyach'in & whining. Turn it off then you puddinheads. I'm digging any live T & F, sorry.
If I hear "that is what's different about the track town summer series" one more time I'm going to blow my brains out. The series is fine for year 2, the announcing is dreadful. I'd prefer the echo of Swangard on PA.

crowd seemed perfectly happy with the announcers but i agree, swangard would have been the better choice
Back to back great racing M 800 & W 1500 & decent times, with the Men's 1500 still to come. Can't even wrote:

You go ahead & do that, no one is stopping you.
I was at the meet - it was a far better experience than the diamond league meet at Icahn. That meet was dead dead dead unless a jamaican was running, then it was awesome.
This meet was full of people who ran the 5k and their families, they mostly paid attention and cheered. The community 8 x 400 was a hoot to watch and run in, the weird events really worked (mixed 3k and relays), and the regular racing was very very strong. Letting us on the track for the 1500s and 4x4 was a great touch.
Also, the athletes seemed to have a great, great time. They really seemed to care about their teams - way more fun to watch than a diamond leaguer.
Solid A, tracktown.

Gregorek, the local boy takes it! Another awesome 'race'. Looked like a blast to be there.
That, friends, is the kind of race that we live for.

The last races were excellent. That is the way it is supposed to be. But leave all of that mixed stagger circus racing, mr freeze crap out of it. Don't need to generate excitement, because that is what the races are for.

i'm sure most purists would agree, but if you're going to grow the sport and make it economically viable, you need that sort of stuff to keep the families there with their kid entertained. i thought tt did a good job of blending really quality racing with some general entertainment for the not as hardcore fans

Bill Spaulding does his research. I've seen him do college meets and talk about people in detail I knew nothing about. Just when I said that he called Tom Curtin, Curtis.
Sounds a bit different on ESPN when he's paired with Katherine Merry.
TrackTown loves Katherine Merry. Not sure exactly why as I don't think she has a lot of ties to US but maybe she does.
I liked how they didn't introduce every runner in that race (100 hurdles). Just give us the main people.
I know you are all over bill Spaulding's nuts routinely on these boards, but he routinely missed the 800m split line in 1500m races (always a second or two late) and as you noted seemed to be off in general tonight. The best announcer in the building was actually doing PA work in swangard.

This entire series is garbage. I tried, but this is not what T&F is all about. Implementing a circus race, synthetic commentators, and shucking and jiving ( I'm AF) is not the foundation of quality running, or showcasing quality running.
They don't do this in cycling or swimming, respect the endurance and respect the sport. It's not meant to be fun or entertaining. It is meant to be challenging, grueling, and to illustrate strength and focus of the human body.
1. You didn't invent T&F, but thanks for telling us what it is all about. Greatly appreciated.
2. In my mind Track is about people racing. Some races are more exciting than others, some are faster, some racers have better tactics, etc. But even a guy in a ridiculous turquoise speed suit and goggles giving some slower people a head start and trying to chase them down is a good old fashioned footrace in my book. No need to get into Field.
Never in the history of television has a network blocked out enough time to air an entire ball sport game, i.e. football, baseball, basketball, or softball. They ALWAYS run over the scheduled time slot. When I saw some stupid live softball game preceding the TTSS NYC on the schedule a week ago, I knew we were in for trouble.
But the fact that they aired a 120 minute show, the original length of time allotted for TTSS, was better than I expected.

Swangard WAS the public address announcer in NYC, and that's who the crowd heard, and why they were happy.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
