What's the worst thing someone has yelled/thrown at you while running?

Excuse me sir, do you need a ride? Twice within a few months on the same stretch of road. Don't know if it was the same person but I don't think it was. I guess I didn't look like I was out for a jog so much as running for my life.

I don't do a whole lot of running on city streets outside of bona fide RRCA foot races. So I don't have alot of bad experiences running the roads where I live here in Jackson, TN (mid sized city in west Tennessee, about an hour out of Memphis).

But I was running a half marathon one time on a rural road just outside Jackson (the Jackson Half Marathon in 2014), and was off by myself because my pace didn't match other runners.

I had a huge pickup truck come up behind me - CROSS to the other side of the road where I was running (as they had us running against the traffic) - and get only a few short feet from me: then the truck hit its horn as loud as it could make the horn, and they sat on the thing.

They nearly deafened me, it was so loud, and they deliberately road my tail for a very long distance (several blocks) until a Madison County sheriff's deputy came upon the scene and lit them up. I'm sure they got a ticket, don't know what for, but it was obvious the deputy was writing them up.

Outside Atlanta, side of a busy road, a pitbull came flying out the back window of a fast moving SUV. Dog shook itself off and came after me. I ran into stopped traffic winding between cars. Right before it lunged at me again, the owner grabbed the chain collar, dragging it off without saying a word. All the stopped cars just watched, except one super creep in a pedo panel van offered for me to jump in. I passed on his offer, liked my chances with the dog.

I'm in HS and I was wearing 1" split shorts during a long run and a kid in a car with his mom slowed down and the kid flipped me off and called me gay. This kid goes on my bus so I stare him down once every week.

I was running a 5k race and about a mile in, people started throwing powdered paint at me! I was kinda mad, but kept going because I was winning by a lot. When I got close to the finish line (race was short, too-- my Garmin said it was barely 2 miles) it happened again! I was so pissed, I didn't wait around to get my award. I went back to warn the other runners, but they were so hard core they just kept going.

Huge Black guy chased me and said he was going to "f me in the a, boy. And that i was pretty."

I dunno, a lot of people out there are really nice. I was out on a run one day and a couple guys pulled up to me in a truck and gestured (they didn't speak English) to ask if I needed a lift.

Started running in the early 70's. Lots of hup two,three, four , cans thrown and once a little kid in the back seat of his parents car chucked a half eaten peach at me but missed. His folks probably wondered why i was yelling at their car but didn't stop.

A favorite trick of the time was for the cars to come up from behind and lay on the horn to watch the runner jump. In high school we went out on a training loop, 6 or 8 of us, and some clown did that - he got 6-8 instant middle fingers and no change in our pace. It was an awesome display of teamwork.

Turned out to be the father of one of the team just saying hi....we thought we were busted but he just laughed. Ah, good times.

They threw paint at you because it was a color run

A few days ago I was finishing up a tough run in the heat and some guy yelled probably the worst thing I've ever had said to me. WARNING NSFW---

He said, "nice shorts, fag"

I was truly devastated, but I will give him that it was very original.

Running in a very nice part of Idaho (yes, those do exist). As a group of my college teammates and I were running by a house, we watched a man get up from his couch inside, open his front door, and scream, "F*cking F*ggots!" I have no idea what convinced him that yelling something so dumb was worth the effort of getting up off and walking to the door.

All I've ever gotten was: "Run, run, run" and "Run faster"

I should also add that I'm a 6'2", 230 lbs bodybuilder so that may have something to do with it...
