I feel like most people have had the "Run Forrest, Run" quote thrown at them, but what about anything worse? I've definitely heard many homophobic slurs (rural Idaho), and have had garbage thrown at me. Also had a car pull over, so the driver could try to fight me...

It wasn't a running incident at first, but we were running soon enough when they started calling us that special word and making threats.

Unsurprising. White people usually don't believe that white people do things like this to people who aren't white. Oh well. I don't have any way of proving it, nor do I really care to try to convince you. I was responding to the OP.
Someone threw a dildo at me once... I immediately got home as fast as possible to disinfect my body.
Conservatives in the media pre-Rodney King said blacks were lying when blacks said cops beat up unarmed blacks. Why do some conservatives do that? If a conservative person said, "I think it's wrong for unarmed black to get beat up by cops" and leave at that, it would be good. Conservatives who state blacks are lying when blacks get bet up by cops or a group of people are as much of a problem as the people who do the violence.
Nothing thrown and whatever is shouted they get right back at them. They rely on runners being meek & mild. You've got to give it back.
One of my old team mates ran past 2 big guys years ago one shouted out 'wanker,' my mate decked him with one punch and carried on.
My worst such experience was running in a rural area of Kansas in the pre-dawn darkness and being stopped by a cop who insisted that it was "not safe" for me to be out alone (not safe from what?) and pretty much demanded that I get into his squad car and let him "take me home to my husband". I finally talked him out of it and went on my way, livid.
Thankfully I now live in a progressive state where I still suffer occasional verbal abuse, but not from law enforcement.
One time I was running in a group and someone shook up a soda can and threw it at us. It landed on the ground right in front of us and exploded all over us

Similar story, I once decided to run to Disney World from my hotel. Security stopped me and drove me to the gate because they were getting calls about a little boy running by the side of the road wearing a goofy hat and carrying a shovel.

"Nice costume" not on Halloween. That actually made me laugh, though. A few times cars have honked at me, but sometimes they are being nice. Just the other day, I got a thumbs up after a honk that startled the **** out of me. Really I've never had anyone give me a hard time while running.
