In this thread - posters using social media to brag about how they don't use social media. Classic!

I don't and haven't. I feel like my life is totally different then when I was in high school. It would be like going to a party you barely know the people.
Anyway (a disclaimer: I'm not paid by the Brojos) I find this anonymous board allows me to express myself w/o being judged by my looks b/c it's strictly posting w/o seeing the visual behind the post. The site is not "sexy" and that's what I like about it. You can have fun, learn, get pissed @ trolls but overall it's a great site to get what you want out of it. Not perfect but neither of us are.
I keep Instagram for sponsorship reasons and Linkedin for business reasons.
Aside from that I don't use twitter, facebook, or snapchat. I don't really have a problem with social media, I just find that it's a hassle and sort of boring to post or update stuff when I could be working, running, or being outside.
No, it's for nosy, gossipy, vain wankers.
Abandoned my Facebook account about 4-5 years ago and have never had any of those other Social Media accounts. I don't have the daily need to brag/advertise myself to the world like most people do thankfully. I'm a 37 year old guy.

Accurate summary.
Did you run today? Not unless it's on Strava you didn't.
Is Strava social media...

No dickwad, you just too much of a moron to know what 'social media' actually means.
Let's run is to social media as Salazar is to honest, clean running.
This is absolutely correct. I recently listened to an excellent podcast by freakanomics titled 'Is the internet letting us down'. It was really interesting. Of particular interest to me was the combination of pull factors something like Facebook has (sharing and interacting with people we like), with the commercial interest that are pushed by the company. Those being to generate more ad revenue and to harvest more data. They will employ the best and brightest to ensure you are on there for 10 extra minutes per day. This creates a huge bias in what people are exposed to (like factors) and skews away from other important information.
The creation of the app and how there is a approval process in order to access a platform like ITunes that holds a near monopoly on not only content but devices as hosts of the content. Frankly it is all one massive conflict of interest at the expense of the founding principles of the Internet.

There should have been no further comments in this thread after the very first comment (quoted above). Leave good enough alone, people.
Social media is for people with insecurities WHO crave other's attention. My answer: NO
Just turned 21, haven't had Instagram/Twitter since 2014. Never hopped onto Facebook. Quality of life improved exponentially as soon as I quit. Take the plunge.

Anybody else out there?
Have none of those and never will. Waste of time.
I agree being against social media
I have only Intagram. I think it is very usefull to promote my services. Nowadays people are too lazy to read forums but they like watching pictures. There I've gained popularity in a fast time with the help of something like Instagram Like Bot's and now I see the impact on the business. I understand your position of being different, against the social media idiotism but damn, for me it's all business.
I didn't read most of this thread, so it's possible this has been sussed out already.
I don't have any social media accounts. I haven't since 2014. Personally I didn't like the anxiety of knowing any opinion is going to be not discussed, but just absolutely trashed by people who don't make arguments but just inflame. A lot of these folks I've known since grade school too.
I also found that people who use social media for "news" (or corporate media of any stripe for that matter) have very little knowledge or understanding of what reality is, how it works, and the concept of cause/effect (history).
I do have a YouTube account (I don't comment), and find it useful for listening to lots of nuanced opinions on a variety of subjects. At least for now.
Social media is a dumpster fire that is constantly fueled by idiots who can't find their a$$ with both hands and mostly don't know what planet they are on. Nuance, complexity, and critical thinking are kryptonite to these people.
Even the algorithm is changed--I used to get a real-time News Feed and now I get the same 10 people in the feed, due to me interacting with them the most often. FB now curates the message and it's not organic like it was in '04-05 when it started out.
I have no social skills, anyway.
