i definitely reckon the 1 day lack of rest cost him 1/2s compared to if 1 further day's rest
if he'd run final on sunday, it's quite possible he couda gone 43-high

Is that an NCAA freshman record?
The 100/200 were also fast. Christian Coleman and Netheneel Blake(?) of LSU ran 9.97/9.99 in the 100 and Coleman broke 20 narrowly in the 200m.
Kerley may regret not running to the line in the prelim but I am sure that he thinks that he can take down the NCAA record and 44 flat later in the season.
Excellent practice to have heats and finals at conference, regionals, NCAA champs, and USA trials before World's. There were guys at the Olympics that ran very, very fast in the prelims only to miss out later. 44.09 slowing and 44.30 make a very, very high quality double. We should not miss out on the fact that two freshmen from Auburn ran 44.52 and 44.81, times that can contend for a spot on the U.S. team fairly often.
And on a wet track too.

definitely worth coupla tenths quicker on dry track & it looked colder
he ran lot slower 200 obviously from fatigue/weather
even then, on dry, same good-temperature as yesterday, i'd reckon that was
~ 43.9 / 44.0
enormous talent !!!
in a zurich, later in year, if not burned out, he can go
~ 43-low

I watched the finish four more times. That slowdown was absolutely worth .3 to .4 seconds.
No, it wasn't. Remember 0.3 seconds at that speed is about 2.5 metres. There's no way he 'lost' 2.5m in the last 10m (which is about when he started slowing down.) I'd say it was worth closer to 0.1 seconds or about 0.8m.
he becomes only 3rd or 4th ever guy to
< 10 / < 20
on same day !
eh ?
that's 100% certain if stays healthy & low-wind, dry track
is this a joke ???
it wrecks these guys !!!
it matters for few off them, but when Fred turns up in WC final in august, he will be really f****cked off that he had to carry a 44.09 prelim from May !!!
that wrecking run coud cost him 0.05 - 0.1s for whole year until tokyo !
muscle hammering/memory
every great guy has limited number of fast runs in his legs & the prelim of easy-44.09 coud cost him lot by tokyo
wrong meet
it was peking-'15
they obviously not bright & had personal agendas such as no arab/carib < 44 & wanted to show off everything immediately
i thought they may hold on in rounds to respectable < 44, but. it finished them
ncaa needs no rounds, not in semi-conference
heats only for ncaa finals
this meet maya killed off Fred & Coleman for weeks !!!
wet track & looked colder
best 2-day 400 ever
having ncaa kids for spots is hardly new
it was absurd prelims before !!!
this shouda been a meet based on fastest times in 3 or 4 separate finals
this way, Fred & Coleman couda given their best with no fatigue from prelims
Remember when Brazier "jogged" the final 20m in his 1:45 breakthrough and people said he'd run 1:43... half of you said no way, the other half knew what they are talking about.
Fred is going to run 43.5 this season.
Kerley reaches 390m in 42.5high when he starts jogging. This is pace for a 43.6high. Anyone who thinks he only lost a tenth is just trolling or straight up estupido.

Fantastic 4x4, with WL by A&M. Had Kerley in a about 44.5, but freshman Allen of Auburn burns a 43.48 to go from 7th to 2nd on the anchor:
Am I the only one who saw the Alabama dude push Kerley to the wire on that leg? He actually out split Fred on that leg I think - I had 43.6-43.8 for Alabama - 44 low for Fred. Go watch it again. I heard those two dudes were on the same relay in juco at south plains...how nasty is that?
G'ma is definitely reaching here, but at least they're making a valid argument. Calculo, all you're doing is running your mouth without any valid points. You, calculo, are definitely the bigger idiot out of the two of you.

That was a 43.7x that got put off.
He might have cracked 44.00
a helluva lot more than 44, more like cracking 43.8
The thought that he slowed down by .40 is patently stupid
learn some math
we are talking more 0.30s
you learn some math pythagoras wanna be.
Kerley ran 44.09 and posters are talking about it being a 43.7 with a slowdown. That's .39.
Tool.
Try 44.09 -44.39 and see what you get, Brainstein.

Yes, you are the only one that saw the Alabama guy.. that guy can't hold Fred's jock in a head to head race. So pipe down kiffin.

Great run from Kerley today and there's more in the tank.
