Sub-2
Nike stock with plummet by sub 2 percent.
He'll break the world record, but not sub 2,
2:01:37.
depends, will they run in a thong? (that helps the weight)
how many drugs allowed?
wind, level drop of the course?
They won't even break the official world record. Dumb publicity stunt.

Agreed, but I'm guessing a little slower - 2:02:31
2:01:55
2:02:58. Suck it, Nike.
Do we know if Kipchoge's game plan is "I'm running 2:00 pace for as long as I absolutely can", or if he hits half in 60:00 and knows he's in over his head, will he slow down?
If he tries to run 2:00:00 pace for as long as possible, he's either going to run 2:00:00 or DNF / 2:05.
It's not a guess, it's a fact. Look at the world half marathon and its progression. Look at the marathon record and the pace per mile. No one is running 60 flat or faster for 13.1 and repeating it, not gonna happen. It's simply a nice round number so it should be attainable, right? Nope, and please save the 4 minute mile comparison for another day, that simply does not compare.

In the very likely scenario he runs the first half in 60 minutes and then starts to die, which is better for Nike? The 2:5 or the DNF? Probably the former. Post race slogan: "Nike, the shoes that allow you to go two thirds of the way."
DNF for all 3, they all will fall off the pace WELL BEFORE 30km

I agree as well. Going thru halfway in 60 and repeating it? This poster nailed it bigtime, it's not going to happen.

I concur
way to comment on your own post Doug. you don't like it when someone else is right and you copy their comments.

The consensus seems that they cannot go sub 2.
So, how long do you think they will be able to stay on pace before falling off?
Do you think they pull the plug once they fall off or will they keep going if still on pace to dip under the existing record? At what point do they pull the plug?
