Race war!!!!
I came to LRC today looking for this thread. I thought it would have some sleuthing on the identity of the runner. The article I saw said the runner had a local club shirt on and some other vague descriptions. Get on it son.

From the description, ts Mark Wetmore.
Although I do feel bad for the cyclist this is already my favorite thread since the time the triathlete plowed into the backward walking hobby mom a few years back.

I'm going to go out on a limb and speculate it wasn't agip/eric blair, conundrum, fat hurts, wtfunny or any of the other libbbtard weenies that populate the political threads on this forum.
Word has it that the bike rider had been spitting beer in the ear of the runner. Only in Golden- or Houston, I suppose.

Runner 1
Biker 0
Cyclists are the rudest people on the trails.
I have often seen them tearing down hiking trails full speed, including blind corners, and hikers jumping out of their way to avoid being killed.
Trust the Biker? Blame the Biker? Unfortunately, we live in times where the truth can be bent, distorted, and manipulated in many different directions. Most people carry cell phones even when they mtn bike, why didn't he take a pic of angry runner? Sorry to question your story, but something smells fishy on the trails of Colorado. Legalized Hemp maybe?

Alright, this is the funniest post I've seen in a very long time.

Might have been Oscar.

While it's hard to make a judgment based on one side of the story, it does sound like the runner is in the wrong here.
It does sound like based on hearing one side of the story that the guy whose side of the story we didn't hear might be in the wrong.

Yeah, agreed -- and I doubt it was that Disco dick sucker guy, either.

I'm a runner. But, a runner with earbuds is someone who can't hear a call for help, a car, or like this, someone trying to go around you. You don't need music blaring in your ear! Run for the pure enjoyment of running. Otherwise go to a gym!
That's plain goofy...running with music is way to go out on those trails and open space parksðŸ‘. I see your point for in the city on the roads with traffic & all...but out on the open space? For me, listening to some good old Metallica & Megadeth while cranking out a tempo run is pure enjoyment...and I'm even old timer! Don't be a stiff...music & running is good thing for motivation (especially with us old farts 😄)

The whole thing is a one sided account, here is what probably happened. The man was running in the middle of the trail, the mnt biker came up behind the man and rang his bell, the man moved out of the way, the mnt biker was frustrated that he had to show down so he shook his head at the man after he passed. The man told him not to shake his head at him. The mnt biker responded back with profanity and words were exchanged. Later the mnt biker coming back towards the man was purposely riding on the side of the trail that the man was running on, basically running him off the trail, but instead of moving the man shoved the biker, the biker wrecked and went home to tell a very one sided story.
Hey, that's pretty good...you should give a sworn statement to the authorities ðŸ˜.

On the other hand, if you're a biker and want to shake your head at somebody, be ready to back that sh*t up.

I'm sorry to hear that this biker got physically attacked. I live in Boulder, and the truth is, however, that mountain bikers typically are the aggressors on trails. They expect runners to move off the trails, they often don't ride in single file, etc. etc. I have been pushed off a trail twice by a team of mountain bikers, and almost came to blows once with one of them....Don't even get me started on how fat-tire bikers have destroyed XC-skiing trails....
My friend just alerted me to this thread and I wanted to tell my side. I NEVER even touched they guy. I was wearing earbuds, but the volume was low. If you divide the path into two lanes I was running in the middle of one lane so there was a whole other lane to pass. He came up behind me and rang is little fairy bell over and over. I didn't move because there was plenty of room for him to pass and nobody was coming in the other direction. When he passed me he stuck out his elbow and clipped me. Then I did yell profanities and threats. A while later he came up behind me again. This time he didn't ring his bell and I didn't know he was coming. When he passed me his soaked me with his water bottle. I was pissed then and jumped onto another trail that cuts off the main one he was riding on so I could get ahead of him. I waited until he came and then threw a handful of dirt at him. He then road off the trail and crashed. I'm not proud what I did. His story is crap though.

As an avid mountain biker, surprised to be reading the comments about the distain for bikers here. Maybe i'm lucky to live around where there are great mountain bike trails and hiking trails but have never seen conflict or actions i'm reading here. i'm sure incidents happen especially on the shared trails but seems like most people are aware of etiquette on the trails.
In winter i'm surprised you wouldn't have x-country and fatbike trails and separate entities. Here all the x-country trails don't allow fatbike and there are specific trails for fatbiking
