Bike rider goes home DEVASTATED!
I rarely run on any of the Jeffco Open Space trails because of the mountain bikers. Too fast--never yield-obnoxious and entitled.
Jeffco open space needs to be better managed. Some trails for bikes, some for runners--alternate weeks, something. Mountain bikes are the bane of human existence.
Kick him once for me next time.

Centennial Cone in Jefco had signs at trail head indicating alternating use between bikes and foot traffic based on even or odd days. Perfect solution.
That trail in particular is not very suitable for both at the same time.
We already know he's an LRC poster. Only question is who.
We only heard one side of the story.

I run all the time on the Jeffco trails and 9/10 of the time Mtn bikers are courteous. But if you want I'll meet you on the trails and fight.

Runner 1
Biker 0
Don't know what you are going on about. The story clearly is saying the runner is the jerk that should be arrested for unprovoked deadly assault.

Sounds like a really terrible idea to wear ear buds in such an environment.

Even if they don't catch the runner, that runner would likely be too paranoid to ever run on that trail again.
Running on "Pure Hate" got a little out of hand. Could be Fake News until we hear the other side of the story. The innocent Mtn. Biker may not be so innocent.
“Most of us found this story disheartening because although mountain biking may be our first love nearly all of us are hikers or runners as well,†said Marticio.

Deadly assault? Not sure I'd go that far. More like plain old assault & battery.
Also, they never found the guy. I wonder if the mountain biker didn't really crash his bike and made the story up to cover up his ineptness. Or to drum up some support for a go fund me project to replace his crashed bike. Just a thought.
I'm a runner. But, a runner with earbuds is someone who can't hear a call for help, a car, or like this, someone trying to go around you. You don't need music blaring in your ear! Run for the pure enjoyment of running. Otherwise go to a gym!

Sounds like the most likely scenario to me.
The story seems very bizarre.
Story is super suspicious. Definitely think this biker is making up the story. Was this runner the Incredible Hulk? Grabbing him by the throat off of a moving bike? Um, no.

Yes, does sound very bizarre...Unless the runner was a Black guy.
Nope, still bizarre. The runner was trail running in the Colorado mountains.
The whole thing is a one sided account, here is what probably happened. The man was running in the middle of the trail, the mnt biker came up behind the man and rang his bell, the man moved out of the way, the mnt biker was frustrated that he had to show down so he shook his head at the man after he passed. The man told him not to shake his head at him. The mnt biker responded back with profanity and words were exchanged. Later the mnt biker coming back towards the man was purposely riding on the side of the trail that the man was running on, basically running him off the trail, but instead of moving the man shoved the biker, the biker wrecked and went home to tell a very one sided story.

Ha ha, that is actually exactly how I was thinking it had played out. Biker's story is a little too "me did no wrong, mean runner guy just out of the blue decided to wail on me".
As a trail runner and occasional mountain biker, I have to say - mountain bikers are the worst of the trail users. Sure, as someone said earlier, 9/10 of them are courteous, that may be true but that 1/10 is an absolute pain in the rear for hikers, runners and horseback riders. And mathematically speaking, if 10% of mountain bikers are uncourteous jackholes, then that's a lot of uncourteous jackholes we have to deal with.
