Chebbi was a far more powerful version of a mo & at his peak wouda slaughtered mo in the sprint finishes of all these majors in the past 1/2 decade ( albeit he wasn't as quick as mo potentially in a flat-out race for 1500 - 10k )
he likely had 49-flat speed which in kicker's race wouda beaten most any 5k or 10k runner
a prelim estimate for him back then was
49.00 / 26'50 ->
1'44.63 2'13.46 3'27.46 7'19.80 12'43.55
I have to admit though that Consuelus the 3kSC champ may even have speed to obliterate the great Chebii !!! if we can ever get consuelus to run a 5k ( I woud give my eye-tooth for him to skip the 3kSC in london & aim to destroy mo in last lap )
Though Kemboi’s range of gears is renowned, Kipruto, unknown to many, has lightning speed for a steeplechaser.
Shortly before the World Championships last year, his manager watched him complete a workout on a synthetic track in Nairobi alongside Alfred Kipketer, an 800m specialist who trains under the same coach.
With a long recovery between each rep, the pair ran 400m in 47 seconds, 300m in 34, 200m in 22 and 150m in 16. “The guy is fast,†says Boeting. “Let me tell you, he is really fast.â€
he wouldn't be quicker than maybe 12'55 for a flat-out 5k but in a slow 13'20 type race to bell woud destroy a peak mo
i'd give his prelim line of fit with using a possible 47.00 - 47.50 :
he is a similar characteristic runner to aouita but runs 3kSC full-time
I am absolutely 100% serious, if Consuelus had that 47 speed with very likely 12'55 concurrent ( he is indisputed 3kSC King & if jager has gone 13'02 in a non-perfect race, then it's 100% likely Consuelus coud have gone 12'55 in a perfect 5k )
then he was in shape in '15 to break even the 1500 WR !!!
if he doesn't try some serious 800/1500s this year providing he has got the 3kSC down to maybe 7'49, it woud be a travesty !!!
