But isn't it fair to point out that all U.S. Presidents in recent memory, decades back, have been complicity or happy to keep funneling lots of money and arms to the Saudi dictatorship, to help keep it afloat and to prevent any hint of democracy arising there?
I don't think that is such a Republican/Democrat issue, as a $ issue. The U.S. has depended heavily on Saudi oil production for decades.
The U.S. has opposed democracy in Iran, in Jordan, in Saudi Arabia, in Egypt--this is US oil-guided strategy that has been in force for decades, and every administration comes to accept it very quickly, based on inescapable economic facts (primarily that the US is a huge oil importer, and has been for many decades).
No? It's hard to imagine an amount of money that the Saudis would find enticing. We've been working with them for a long time because they have a lot of money and are thus very influential in the area. The problem with the Saudis is not that we've given them money, it's that they have so much and use it to fund horrible causes.
Now if you substitute Pakistan for Saudi Arabia, maybe. For sure, we funneled way too much money and arms through the Pakistanis without vetting where it was going (check out Ghost Wars!).

Yes.

No. The pipelines are carrying Canadian oil.
Listen, anyone that still thinks Trump can do anything useful this term is an idiot.
Even if you agree with the essence of his ideas, his implementation has been utterly useless. He clearly uses no thought, speaks and acts before thinking or seeking guidance on matters he clearly doesn't understand. Blurting out nonsense about trade tarrifs, unwieldly Twitter usage, this nonsense unannounced ban.
Signing off rash exec orders that attract legal challenges left right and centre. The president will end up in so much legal paperwork that he won't find time in the week to play golf.
Mix in his ego that is so huge he is happy to completely sideline politics to do some dick measuring and this is a recipe for disaster.
This is not the man to get the republican policies done. He is making it up as he goes along.
I am not sure what Mo's status is. I am pretty confident than he will be able to return to the US.
I found it funny that Mo tweeted that Trump had made him "an alien". Well he is a British citizen. That makes him an "alien" as far as the US is concerned, and he was one before all this mess.
There is no right for a foreign national to be admitted to any nation. Nations have the right to remain sovereign and control its borders. Otherwise, why have nations at all? When we get to the Star Trek future where there are tons of other planets with intelligent life, then we can talk about one planet under one government. Let's just hope it is not the current make up of the Security Council.

The American people should be asking themselves why Trump has banned those entering from the 7 Muslim states listed, while failing to include 3 where he has business interests?
In fact not a single American has been killed on US soil by citizens of any of the Muslim-majority countries affected by Trump's order, between 1975 and 2015, according to the conservative-leaning Cato Institute.
However, 3,000 Americans were killed by citizens of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Egypt in the same time period, many of them during the attacks on 9/11.
Donald Trump has business interests in all three of these countries.
So Donald Trump's ban, as a counter terrorism strategy, doesn't even seem to be looking at the data.
The blatant hypocrisy is laughable.
Elitist snobs on the bubble focus on the faceless data. But President Trump focuses on the American people. Their feelings are more important. Data are for eggheads.

Even if he was a dual citizen all he'd have do is apply for entry as a British citizen and arrive in the country using his British passport.

https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/u-s-oil-exports-skyrocket-despite-climate-pacts/Let me quote the paragraph that appears relevant:
Scientific American wrote
Though the U.S. is among the world’s top oil producers, it imports about 10 times more oil than it exports. The U.S. has imported about 7.3 million barrels of oil every day throughout 2016, while U.S. oil exports have been rising from 364,000 barrels per day in January to 694,000 barrels per day in September, EIA data show.

My view is that in twenty years time many people will regret Trump not going far enough. I think he has done a small ban as a feeler to see if it is legally challenged and if more recent immigrants commit acts of terrorism in future like in San Bernardino he can add their country of origin to the list.
Yeah, like if a Saudi Arabian commits an act of terrorism he can ban Indonesians.
Relax people, all this is just part of "good management" he boasted about during the campaign.
Here is a set of 2017 projections:
https://www.eia.gov/outlooks/steo/report/us_oil.cfm
They estimate:
2017 production to be 9+3.7+1+.1 = 13.8
2017 consumption to be 19.9
Net debt of about 6M b/d
2018 production to be 9.3+4.1+1+0.1=14.5
2018 consumption to be 20.2
Net debt of a little under 6M b/d
Here is an article suggesting the US may become a "net energy exporter" in another ten years:
http://www.businessinsider.com/united-states-energy-exporter-2026-eia-2017-1
Here is an article that says if you look only at crude oil, we have a net export:
https://energy.gov/maps/us-crude-oil-production-surpasses-net-imports
Note that that is only crude oil, and is not the entire energy equation (the 13-20M b/d equation)

You say disaster, I say, it's perfect.
The rest of the world is responding predictably. Economic activity will slow as "Money" people are discouraged from having anything to do with the U.S. because of the chaos.
Given how poorly the Republicans prepared for this legislative session, they will fail there too. Epic failure all around and we are barely a month into the session.
There just isn't enough chaos in the Executive branch yet.

Haha. Suddenly, thousands of "athletes" and "politicians" will be coming to the U.S. Good job. Can you hear the rest of America slow clapping this one?
Let's rewind to the last Trump disaster: Mexico is America's a top-5 trading partner. "You don't want our trade? Fine. No meeting." This immigration thing is exactly the same thing. The world is much smaller and nobody really thinks the U.S. is something special any more.

Exactly, unlike a few years ago there is the old Soviet Union countries to trade with, China, which used to be isolated, and all the other growing economies of Asia and India, etc.
