Average height in the U.S. plateaued in 1996 and has been stable or declining since.

Many men live through their high school and college days when they could eat and drink anything. However, by the time they realize it is not still the case, they are 45+ and are not willing to work at losing the weight.
Skinny guys like us are looked down on. It makes the fatties feel better about themselves.
f*cking fatties, lose the weight, I hate having to bear the cost of keeping you alive
People are just lazy. What's so hard about this schedule? Here's mine:
6:00am wake up...feed the kids/change diapers/dress kids...mom sends the kids off to school or daycare so she can be to work at 7am.
6:30am - run for 40 minutes (easy, intervals, tempo, whatever)
7:20 am - in the shower.
7:35am - eat breakfast and commute.
8:30am - at work
12:00pm - Run for a half hour if project load is low. Many people choose to go to Pizza Hut of Panda Express. I'm eating Quinoa with sriracha or leftovers from last night while I work. Saving money, eating healthy, running doubles b!tches.
4:00pm - Wife picks up kids.
5:00pm - leave work.
6:00pm - Arrive home, eat dinner. Wife will eat dinner later if she goes to yoga or goes to the gym. I entertain kids, read stories, watch Operation Dumbo Drop or whatever the hell is kid-friendly on Netflix. Kids do homework.
9:00-9:45pm - In bed with wifey. ZZZZZ. Proceed to sleep for 9 hours.
Problem is, running is hard. Running twice a day is harder. People would rather play with their phones. Not eating Qdoba is hardest thing some people will ever do in their lives. 195lbs is easily obtainable, 165lbs is not easily attainable.
pretty scary to think the average person is now not only fat but dangerously obese.
I think this generation of losers will be the shortest lived.
My wife is 5-3, about 115-125, give or take the time of year, etc. She used to come home practically in tears because the large women she worked with - fellow teachers - would tape up cartoons about "skinny bitches" and so forth. Imagine if she had put up cartoons making fun of fat asses.
70% overweight or obese and close to 40% obese and 6.6% are morbidly obese.
Overweight includes fat, bone, muscle. Contrary to belief it is actually not healthy to carry so much muscle that it puts you into that category. Certainly you would be fitter overall than and obese individual, but it does nothing to extend your life and still carries risks.
West Point Military Academy cadets born from 1850 to 1879 had an average weight of only 138 lbs, and an average BMI of 20.5
Union Army records reveal that the average Union soldier during the American Civil War was 5'8.25" and weighed 143.5 pounds. BMI 21.6
By 1900 average Ht and Wt was 5'8" 154
Studies show that many 100+ year olds have a BMI of 22 or less for the majority of their lives.
That's great if you can work those kind of hours. After running collegiality and weighing ~145 at 5'9, I started to get fat after only two months in banking. I came in in great shape too. When you often work 8:30-1am+, it's so hard to get out of bed and run and then stay awake and actually be productive at work. But to be fair it was the $25 of free dinner delivery every night that did me in NYC- just a terribly unhealthy lifestyle

195 is way to heavy for an average man. What is the average height, like 5'11"? Just because you are reasonably fit does not mean you should be that heavy. While I'll admit it is possible to have the above body comp and still be fit I think it is rare.
I work with a collegiate athlete. 5'9" and 175 lbs. He opened his indoor season at 15:45. That's marginally impressive time for a 25 BMI but he and I both agree 150s would be more appropriate. We are working on it. Sub 135 would be ideal for running and general health at that height.
What? 5'9" & 175 lbs...and runs 15:45? 😨. No way...that's the size of some D-1 cornerbacks. I'm very skeptical and suspicious, as I've never seen anyone that size & BMI run a 15:45 🤔. If my suspicion is not warranted, then post proof of his identity, his verified 15:45, his verified ht & wgt, etc.
WOW and the average female, as of 2010, is 166 lbs!!!! I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around this. Guess I better keep running.

It's not because of too much fat, just too many calories, and that is because of too many carbohydrates, which
a) are cheap so they dominate the food supply, and
b) make you want to eat a whole lot
America will never eat good food until the economy stops pushing demand for bad food, which capitalism can't do because it depends on the production and sale of useless and bad things for continued growth.
So no trucker ever got fat eating fried food high in fat and protein.
They don't! They eat fries and chips and soda pop.

Average weight of a US male in 1960 was 165lbs, today 195. Women average weight in 1960 140lbs today 165lbs. This is one of the reason the US has fallen so far behind in world class distance running. Excessive weight gain as an adult begins in childhood. The pool of fit adolescents in the US who are beginning their competitive running has really shrunk.
I thought it was all the fault of the dastardly Kenyan dopers.
I'm 41 years old, 6'4" and weigh 160-163 lbs. Run 5-6 days a week but most importantly eat a healthy diet with tons of fiber (vegetables, fruit, nuts, and lots of refried beans). Also take Metamucil every day for the past 20 years. Fiber Fiber Fiber!!!!!
In early August I weighed 200 lbs at 6 foot. I exercised but ate whatever I wanted.
In mid August I got a fit bit. Started logging calories in the app with the goal of a 1000 calorie deficit everyday.
Continued with the exercise...
Have lost 1-2 lbs a week and now 5 months later I now weigh 165 lbs.
It's all about the calories baby!
