The Dems here never really talk about it but what happens if Trump is re-elected? Forget about the smaller-type things that we usually talk about. The elephant in the room is the Supreme Court. Do you Dems think about that? The Court is already conservative, but if Trump wins later this year, he will most likely replace Ginsburg (I am hoping she merely steps down and wish the best to her for her health) with a conservative and likely another liberal with yet another conservative jurist. That would put the court at 7-2 in favor of conservatives. That will have much longer-lasting consequences than anything else. A conservative court such as that will produce changes that will last for 30-plus years.
Yes, McConnell's un-Constitutional move to block a vote on Garland, and Russia's assist to help Trump in 2016 changed the Supreme Court makeup for much more than 4 years.
And another Trump win may give a 30 year conservative majority rule. (the youngest Republican appointee is only 71)
Outside of that, most people's lives won't be affected much depending on how they consume news.
I know I'll be fine.
I actually think a Trump re-election would be devastating to the Republican party.
Their identity has been shattered. Four more years of Trump and the Republican identity will be irreversibly changed.
A new conservative party may take form. Not another Tea Party that joined Republicans under Obama, but one that will oppose them under Trump.
Republicans will go the way of the Whigs.
What will the new conservative party be called?
