She posted about one 4 mile "anaerobic" tempo so basically a race effort not in a race.
McMillan calculator says a 2:00 800 is equal to a 20:06 4 mile. Sounds to me like her times are right in line with what's being reported.
You also lost credibility when you said "McMillan calculator says"

That calculator has been amazingly accurate for me for distances from 1 mile to half marathon. There are a lot of things runners can learn from that calculator. Of course it's dependant on specific training for each distance. Martinez has been doing those types of tempos since Joe Vigil has been coaching her. You need to Google Brenda Martinez/Joe Vigil and find the article about how she is training and the philosophy behind it.
What I do miss about McMillan is when the workout paces were available without signing up. They were a great training and racing guide. Most people used them backward though. They would pick a time and try to hit those times in a workout. They should be doing the workout at the intensity they are shooting for and then take those times to the table and see where it places them in relation to expected race times.

You definitely didn't break 2 in high school and are still bitter about it
Bingo.
You can learn a lot... wrote:

They are still there, you just have to click the correct link. Far left column of options, second one down, "Training Paces"

Thanks
When they changed a few years ago everything I clicked on was a pay wall so I somehow missed that.
Pretty much!

Without missing a beat he said, Americans run too many races."

Hard interval training must be preceded by months of base building. Running 2:00 flat in December does not tell us what she will be running (or even if she will be healthy enough to run in July)!
It's actually 1:43.5 set by Donovan Brazier. You tried to sound so confident proving them wrong but instead sounded like you had your head up your a$$

I recently saw a large dark antelope with a long head, a beard and mane, and a sloping back on the boards.
How many hours did it take for you to write that post?

This is the answer.
2:00 rn is awesome though, go Brenda

At Rio 2016 Hinriksdottir of Iceland broke her national record (again) with 2:00.14, but did not advance because 2:00:00 was the 24th spot.
I'm not sure why Martinez' time is supposed to be impressive, she wouldn't have gotten out of the first round at the Olympics.
You new here on LRC? Henriksdottir probably would have gotten dropped by Martinez if she ran this time trial with her. Brenda basically solo ran Henriksdottir's PR off of no speedwork in December. Anita ran 2 flat in peak form with competition.
I remember Brenda posting 15:30 3mile tempo runs 4-5 years ago and the boards going nuts over it. Yawn.
Did she also throw the Discus immediately before the time trial? That really would be interesting.Or did you mean Discuss?

Found the new guy!
I just watched Roger Federer practicing tennis on Periscope and he hit a couple decent serves. Why isn't anyone talking about this???
She ran 2 flat solo (q: how many American women beat 2 last year?) in December on no speedwork. At this rate, she'll be running 1:57 next year.
Martinez has been better known for her workout times the last 3 years than her race results. Since her 1:57 breakthrough year in 2013 she has gotten progressively slower at 800 each year. Since her bronze at the World Championships the same year she has not made the final at 800m in 2015 and finished last in her semi at 1500m in the Olympics this year. At the end of next season she will be 30. If another breakthrough doesn't happen she should seriously look at making a coaching change.

DISCUS
That is a fast time for pre-season. She will be ready to run faster in 2017. I believe she will run 1:55 before her career is over. Shortly, after recording a time trial of 2 minutes flat, the feeling must be incredible for her to run this at practice.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
