P5 schools don't waste a precious paid position on someone who just "holds a stop watch". That is for volunteer coaches whom I bet line up at a place like ASU. I would guess Cory will be at the forefront of either the men or women's distance program working with Jeremy.
Haters.
Are you sure? That's what Jeremy was before Louie left...I mean, yeah, he coordinated their home meets too. But Louie coached the men & women. Yes, stopwatch holder is overly simplified and was even meant self deprecatingly. But I know plenty of full-time P5 assistants who do not actually "coach" in the traditional sense of the word. They may coordinate recruiting and/or direct home meets along with plenty of other administrative functions (including operations duties if the program doesn't have a D of Ops)...but they don't make any decisions regarding the training of athletes nor race instruction. Nothing wrong with that...as someone else mentioned, just paying dues. And doing that v. actually coaching at a smaller school often opens better doors if your goal is P5. No hate meant toward the new ASU guy even though I realize that's how my original post came off.
