Looks like Oswego has reopened. Wasn't that just filled?

Not sure who left but I think it's Beau Brehm. His LinkedIn says July 2017 was the end date for his time at the position.
Yeah. Sprint/hurdle position open. Interviews last week.

Yeah. Sprint/hurdle position open. Interviews last week.
Any idea who interviewed?
CNU found someone to replace Barreau. Good luck working with Wingard!
What ever happened at Clemson? The throws coach left almost a month ago. Job was never posted, as of earlier this week.

Forgive me if this has been asked and answered, but where is Darrell Smith going? He's far too good a coach to not be hired right away!
Considering he was released by UCLA after this season, it is a mystery. Hopefully, he lands somewhere. Forgive me, what jobs are open in the LA area?
Kind of cool seeing a myriad of new faces across the SEC in men's distance. Interesting to see how they fare in the long run against the returning distance coaches.
UF - Solinsky
LSU - Rinker
Auburn - ?
Kentucky - ?
With the last week of July coming to a close and August approaching, one would wonder why so many positions are not filled yet? Are these programs really trying to land high profile names?Because let's face it most of those guys are accounted for with other programs.

This happens every single year and every single year people post this type of silly statement. It's July, still early in the coaching carousel. Things won't be resolved until early September at a number of solid programs and everything will be alright.
I think he's referring to distance coaches which, if he is, yes this is later than usual for these decisions to be made. Many big programs looking for a distance coach are scrambling right now. Look for some new faces and unknowns to be hired at bigger programs this year since it is so late in the summer.
Athletics departments see such spring/summer track coach openings as a way to save on paying someone's salary for a number of months. They take this approach, in my opinion, because the competitive season is so far away from this point. While I think there are a number of negative aspects to this approach, administrators are just saving money.

I was referring to distance coaches, so your analogy may be true for sprint/jumps/throws coaches but not so much for distance coaches. Cross Country season starts in September so I could see it being mid to late August before these positions are filled to save money.
Agreed- much more of a sense of urgency (or at least there should be) if an athletic dept does not already have a CC /distance coach in place at this point. In the power events though it happens quite a bit where a position is open for many months.
It's not unusual for there to be a 2-4 week lag in formally announcing new coaches by schools. They often need to wait for background checks, contracts to be finalized or the coach to actually show up. Coaches have said yes to one school only to bolt to a better offer directly afterward leaving the first school with egg on their face. Now that most schools have began fall football camp, the SIDs are usually tied up with the daily media responsibilities as well.

That's to be said if a coach has already been hired for an opening. I think he's referring to himself getting a job offer. If these positions aren't announced as filled, are they still open or is it just not announced yet?
I would say most of these jobs aren't filled and they don't have a coach already hired. The real hiring starts in August.
Chuck Wentz from BGSU and Joe Lynn from Miami of Ohio are on the short list.
Probably most likely going to be an internal hire/restructure would be my guess though.
I've also heard Joe Lynn on the short list for William and Mary. Sounds like he's moving on regardless
University of Memphis is looking for a jumps coach.
For which job? Kentucky?
