I have no idea. I was wondering the same thing about Marilyn Manson. Check out his vital statistics -- 6'1" and 140 pounds. There are only two groups of people with those dimensions -- distance runners and drug-addicted celebrities. I'm betting that he's a really good distance runner.
I always thought Iggy Pop must be a fast son of gun, given his permanently gaunt look.
Yeah, Alice ran in high school. So did Mike Lutz of Brownsville Station (Smoking in the Boys Room). Mike went to the same high school as Bob Seger: Ann Arbor Pioneer (MI).
I remember reading about Lutz doing a 2:40sumpin thon. Read it in an old RW.
Saw Alice Cooper in concert abouyt a year ago. Love the guy.
Back in the late 70's Runner's World put out two additional publications: Marathoning (it was a glossy nicely done magazine- only did 5 issues) and a biweekly (I think) newspaper-like magazine called "On the Run" (I think) I have a bunch of issues stored somewhere from the year it was in print. Anyhow Alice Cooper was the cover story for one issue- this magazine had real in-depth articles too! Can't recall if it said he ever did a marathon.
Rumors were Alice Cooper was state high school XC champ. Arizona? Also, Dana Carvey was a 4:27 high schooler and still ran 7 miles per day until health problems a few years ago, so not sure if he still runs.
Weltex, meant to add the Mike L still runs, plays and teaches guitar also. He hasn't raced in years but I ran step for step w/him in a 2:36 marathon in, I think, '78. He and the Motor City Madman, Ted Nugent, are tight. (Ted lives in nearby to Mike Jackson county where poachers are killing a LOT of his imported exotic animals. Ted is REALLY mad. He's a gonzo hunter. Don't think Ted runs.)
Alice Cooper has gone over to the darkside. He is now a partner with a team in one of stock car racing's minor leagues.
