I read that on average it's very young, late teens or early twenties. For me, my music tastes more or less froze around age 26.

I’m late to the party, but I’m 62 and the American Idiot CD is the only thing I listen to in the car. I like their new stuff too.
I'm a 21 year old woman and I find music to be a waste of time.
I’m 53 and discover new metal bands I like almost every day. I was a punk rocker for years, so I have a lot more listening to do.

Why is this not surprising lol
So you like to get right down to the making out? I like your style!
I don't think music plays as important a role in the culture as it once did, and certainly not the same role.
In theory, I am open to new music, but at 68, it's not that easy to learn about all that's new. Every once in awhile I notice that something on Youtube has 55 million hits and I've never heard of it,. That means, obviously, that I'm not fully in the loop, but these are acts that never made it onto award shows, talk shows, or SNL. I.m not sure how I was supposed to know about them. I realize if I weren't such an old fart, I probably would know.
I'm a huge fan of The War on Drugs ... they're as good at what they do as anyone has ever been. If there's more of THAT kind of new music, please let me know. I also like Courtney Barnett. I do understand that a guy like John Legend is talented.
Not much else, though. The late night shows and SNL rarely have anything that interests me. I know my frame of reference is decades removed from "young people," but I struggle to imagine who of any age could possibly be enjoying this crap. Audiences seem fairly uncritical now. They seem determined to have a terrific time no matter what's happening on stage. Good for them, I guess. But when I see a loud raucous reaction to some of these musicians, I think the joke's on them, not on me.
