What in the world are they putting in the water down there! Has anyone else noticed that Kentucky U has 7 800m runners ranging from 1:47.4 to 1:49.19. That is pretty impressive to me. Am I easily impressed or have people just overlooked this?????

Doesn't surprise me. There have been many teams in the past such as Arkansas, Georgetown, Seton Hall, George Mason, etc to recruit sub 1:50 high schoolers only then to turn mediocre high school half a milers into sub 1:50ers. There is lot of talent in the structure of athletics and coaches just gotta know where to look. Kentucky is just a case of bolstering more 800 talents than other teams. I dont think they are the most talented team overall though and thats what really matters. Just remember, most of Kentucky's 800 guys can only move down from the 800 to be competitive. Moving up to the 15/Mile is a different story.
Most impressive indeed!! We had five guys under 1:52 in college (Div II), two under 1:50 and that made us pretty tough in all of the Relay meets, that we ran in early Spring. They should be fun to watch in some of the relays and I bet some Open races too! All of that talent must make for some workouts.
Yes, Kentucky is slowly building a power house middle distance team. With Tennesse being a bordering state they could have one intresting 800 battle. Plus if you throw in guys that are done with school like Jebrah Harris who is still training at UT. That would make a great college state meet.
I was once the fourth man on George Mason's relay at 1:49.7 (High School PR of 2:02) and one time they had a top four that went 1:44, 1:45, 1:46, 1:46. (I guess coach Cook got us all to run faster)
But I have never seen a team that went 7 deep like that.
That is very impressive.
Building a mid-distance power? Come on, I can hardly imagine having more horses than that. Those are also all indoor marks. Pretty damn impressive.
Well maybe building a powerhouse wasn't the correct thing to say, but there still building to the level of schools like georgetown, who have been dominate for years at the middle distance events. KY has been getting better for about 4 years now. It mainly started when Doaty signed. After that year they have been getting kids like Freeman and the others. Should be intresting to see what they run at Penn Relays 4 x 800
