I am new to this board, and thus far I am a bit discouraged by the amount of negativity. One area that is constantly getting attention is Michigan and Ron Warhurst. I find it ridiculous that you people rag on Michigan so much. How many of you even thought about Ron Warhurst or Michigan before Webb? You narc on Warhurst for recruiting foreigners. Well shoot, I don't even want to get into the other schools who outdo him in that category. But, will somebody take a look at the number of sub 29 10k and sub 14 5k runners Warhurst has coached. First, you will be astonished by the number itself. Second, you will be astonished by the number of low key HS runners that made it big at UM. Third, you will be surprised by the lack of foreign runners. I would venture to say that Michigan has the most impressive list of middle distance and distance ties on their "all-time" list; from 800m-10k. To add a little fairness to things here, yea people get injured. Yea, he takes criticism for what did or didn't happen with Webb. But, have any of you ever met Webb? Have any of you ever had a hard time transitioning from high school to college or from coach to coach? These are all big factors. Chemistry and understanding between coach and athlete are huge. And that is a huge problem with the High school-college running program in the US, but that's a whole nother can of worms. What I'm trying to say is, really truly consider possiblities before you just tear into a program and a coach. I do not go to UM, nor have I ever. I am a DI runner that knows the importance of a coach-athlete relationship
