The steeple is different you just can't use speed as an indicator. Look at the 400 and 400h two different events with different skills. Javier all the way.

And Michelle Obama is even uglier on the inside. Good riddance.
You 2 must have mistaken Michelle Obama for your Mom.
Wait dude, you are defending her? I mean I would hit that, with a shovel. She is gross dude.

I believe it is actually Jager who would have more trouble staying upright given his track record.
But as you say, he only falls down when he runs a track record. No need to go that fast just to beat Rupp.

Well-played indeed!

Yikes. You got me. /thread

Jager body type is perfect for the steeple, I honestly don't think Rupp could ever be as smooth going over the barriers. I don't think steepling is something that just takes an amount of time spent training to perfect, I think it requires some sort of genetic endowment to be the best possible. But maybe I'm wrong, and any world class runner could transfer over to the steeple and given enough time training, would end up perfecting the art of steepling and be able to perform to the best of their running ability.
All good points. Jager has very long limbs for his height. Look at how long his legs are in comparison to Rupp's for his height.
I think in the end, it comes down to endurance. Rupp would work diligently on hurdling and water pit jumps and eventually become a passable steepler.

You have demonstrated you have no clue. Rupp would be unlikely to ever break 8:10 in the steeplechase. Trust me on this. It is not his event. Henry Rono, who was a better runner than Rupp, only ran 8:05.
Three pages in and no one has mentioned the influences and effects of The Rupp on Galen's S/C ability?
DON'T YOU REMEMBER 2003?

Agreed, two different events. Two different kinds of athletes.Rono set the Steeple World Record and the 10K. Very few 10k specialists could come close to the Steeple World Record and Rupp would not likely be the outlier. Even given today's better track surfaces, shoes, training, etc., it is hard to imagine Rupp even matching Rono's 8:05 even though he is nearly 40sec faster at 10k.

I generally agree with your point. However, to state that Galen is nearly 40 seconds faster at 10000m than Henry Rono is one of those accurate statements which lacks essential precision. Rono ran his world records essentially by himself while Galen was essentially paced to his sub 27 performances. Henry Rono was a freakishly talented runner who would have had the better of Galen Rupp.
