Not every country has the idea that every kid has to go to College.
In Australia, back in my day, (70s) only about 5% went to university. It was all for academics. If you didn't expect to be a dr or lawyer, or a degreed profession, there really was no need. Degrees were not needed. Sports were club only.
College here is a cottage industry.
