What's a matter little boy. You jealous of the Speed River guys. Why don't you win the Canadian university championship x-country.
Oh you can't.
Why don't you do a 26.2 mile training run in 2:28.
What's that you say? You can't. You're just a loser who runs 1:17 to 1:20 halfs.
Maybe you should have a talk with the 45 year old Russian ladies to see what you're doing wrong.
OH JOsh. I am not in awe. wrote:
Josh's Mom. wrote:Depends on your definition of 'professional' I guess. Back in Fred's hey day, in the 50's and 60's, if you received money for anything than legitimate expenses and were discovered then you were considered professional and banned from competing. Of course, the officials who made the rules had their noses well and truly in the trough.
If Josh was receiving money when he says: "2012 - 2013: Professional Male", and was putting in the requisite training hours in his chosen sport, then that makes him professional by my definition. His half-marathon during this time when he finished 1st (don't know where you got the 1:19 from) was 1:16.56.
That time would not win the women's division in half-marathons where I live in the US.
I am sorry about that, JOsh.
Sorry about that.
Josh would also get beat by 60 year old Brian Pilcher, who just ran a 1:16:54 half-marathon as his half-marathon split, 1:31:41 at 25K, and 1:50:53 at 30K during his 2:42:44 marathon at Chicago.
He also ran a 16:38 5K last week.

Fred, your insanity is showing.... you reply to everyone in this thread as if they are me.
Contrary to what you may believe there appears to be a large amount of people who can't tolerate your garbage.
Fred, the people have asked about your performances... why don't you share those with us?
Pacers were less about the "championship" and more about going after standards for World Champs actually. This just happened to be the championships but most women are trying to achieve AC's ridiculous time standards regardless if championships or not.
Unless they allow guys to jump into track races randomly to pace women they shouldn't be allowed to do so on the roads either.
Actual male pacers shouldn't even be allowed but that's not enforceable in a mixed race.

This may be true but exactly why do you consider yourself a professional?
I was faster than you or your wife at every distance Josh Jogger. Now run along and sell your con.

It's a mental disorder centred around grandiosity.
A triathlete from the same city as Josh had 51 minute speed at 10 miles, yet he didn't hype the crap out of what he did.
Josh makes a big deal out of his mediocre performances.

Talk about your races Fred! You must have been really fast but you keep dodging the questions.
fred only needs to be faster than Josh.

Poor old Fred, he's copping enough of a bashing imagine what it'll be like if he posts his times, provided they're accurate and verifiable of course.

Fred..... you need help. Time to move on.

I hesitate to reply as I know it will pull this thread back up and motivate Fred to spew more lunacy.
Nonetheless,
"Professional" is a competition category in triathlon, which I raced somewhat competitively while completing my university degrees. In triathlon you can race as a "professional" once you surpass a certain performance time. In the case of the event I raced most, 70.3, this was 4:20. Nothing too hard to do really.
Why does it make sense to race as a professional in triathlon? Because of age-category wave starts. A 18-24 male will be grouped in a wave of other males in this age group regardless of performance. This group will then be allowed to start their race at some interval of time after a number of waves ahead of them. So, you could be in this group (as I was) and competing at a speed that would place you fairly well overall, but you'd have to start 20 minutes behind the first wave and spend your day passing by people like Fred up here... slow and old.
To make an analogy of it:
Imagine you were a 2:30 male marathon runner. Good enough that you take your running seriously, and probably able to win a fair number of events, but not at the very top level. In running you have the ability to stand at the front of the start and race just as anyone else... you seed by time/performance.
Now, imagine you are that same 2:30 marathon runner, but you had to start in a wave 20 minutes behind the first starters of the race and you had to then pass through 500 competitors to make your way through the race to the finish. This is what racing as a fast athlete is like in triathlon if you don't enter the "professional" wave.
There are other benefits of racing as a professional, but head-to-head competition amongst the quicker athletes is the most prominent one.
Nice measured sensible explanation Josh.

Any hobby jogger can easily post verifiable race times from two decades ago and until you do, I will continue to assume you are actually slow, since you CONSISTENTLY avoid backing up your talk.
fred is actually a master showman, and after over a decade of being prompted to reveal his bonafides, he will soon dramatically reveal himself to in fact be a certain multiple Olympic gold medalist. Yes even the great Viren gets bored once in a while and likes to lurk and post anonymously while sipping some warm reindeer milk.

Krista just doesn't look like the typical elite or even sub-elite runner. Dayna, and Erin Burrett look much faster but that goes to show that appearances don't mean much of anything. There's no denying Krista's talent.
Epo can do wonders. You don't have to look fit to win

+100
Do actually still race triathlon?
Would you be in the second wave if you weren't a "pro"? Not sure how that would have you passing slow old people if only the pros were ahead of. you.
