Even more disturbing is the pacer Kiptoo was wearing an official race number. Hope the women who finished BEHIND Duchene appeal for DQ. Hell, I hope the woman who finished 478th files a protest as well.

Over at trackie.ca conversation is about a pacer driven up the course in an official van to pace the eventual winner. Caught on video.

Interested to hear D.Katz opinion.

The allegation that is being made is that a pacer was driven in a van mid-race to help pace a Canadian female mid-race.

His old lady went out too fast, and bonked. The guy is clueless.

It's the same list of endless excuses. And now he's complaining about being cheated.

How many times do you have to hit the wall before you learn something. Did you learn anything about pacing?

Hey, Dayna went out too hard, and a 39 year old paced herself in the humidity and 60 temps, and dropped her.

Don't try to rationalize the major racing errors and say that if Duchene had not got pacing, that she wouldn't have killed Dayna.

Grow up punk.

Why on earth are there pacers for practically each woman in a championship race anyway?

And how many of these ladies dropped out when they had a pacer? 2 or 3?

How is Guelph treating you? Still living on the social assistance of your mother? Hope all is well. Can't say I really miss you creeping around the track in Windsor trying to re-live your piss-poor training of 40 years ago.

Anyways, this is Josh (husband/coach) of Dayna in that race.

No one really had any idea that any of this happened. We just found out today, and to be honest, don't really care. It made no difference on the final placing. I get that it is almost surely against the rules, and we received an email today (along with the other elite women) asking if we intended on filing some sort of protest.

We have no intention of doing that.

This was not planned and I'd bet Krista had no idea this even happened either until reading this junk after the race.

Fred is a former recreational runner who lived in Windsor, but now lives in Guelph. He has to be around 70 years old now. Likely has some sort of mild psychological disorder the explain his behaviour both online and off.

He was often creeping around the University track watching runners workout when I lived in Windsor and used the facilities. He moved to Guelph about 4-5 years ago now. It seems his presence on here has become increasingly unbearable.

Years ago I worked at a running shop in Windsor and he came in out of the blue to drop off his training logs to show us "what real training is like" from back in the 1970's. Total nut.

Impossible to say anything without more video than this or eyewitness accounts.

It is quite possible he was further up the road and chatted with the van occupants, who told him to back off and wait for her.

It is really funny how much trouble these races go to, making sure each and every woman has a personal "pacer" (which is actually just company since they slow down when the woman falls of the designated pace).

The training of the 80s was crappy too. That's why it took the women so long to break that record too.

Drayton =/= Fred Urie. I wasn't speaking of the overall training philosophy of the best athletes in the 70's and 80's... I was speaking of the logs of one recreational runner from the era.
