Hi all,
ReportLab and European Athletics are organising a conference in Madrid. We aim to see if we can improve the state of athletics software through open data, open standards and open source code - and thus save time for volunteers everywhere, and make the sport a bit more fun, at every level.
And it's free. Details here....

OpenDataCon, the parent event, is here:
We have confirmed representatives from half a dozen big federations, ATOS (who ran the systems in Rio), and a lot of domain experts at the conference (some of whom run pretty fast).
If you have a geeky streak in you, or you spend time obsessing over results and rankings, and you're able to join us, please do. Please also bring this to the attention of governing bodies, and anyone who produces or consumes results.
We hope that open source / open data projects will follow soon after which anyone is welcome to join in with. I'll answer questions here as time permits
Best Regards
Andy
