Fact 1
I talked with Sam at New Haven last week and he told me that Coach Li sent him packing.
Fact 2
He has moved to Colorado Springs
Fact 3
Nike has a horrible reputation of huge reductions and they are often tied to becoming an Olympian.

Why does Li not want to coach him?
Because he's a sprint coach and can't coach distance runners.

Do a search on this main forum for "Scott Simmons" and see what comes up.
If people who know him are all saying that he’s bad news, it's probably because he is.
Actually, it's one crazy lunatic, who can't let go of him.
Hold your horses
Scott is a terrible coach !!!!!!!!!
Just because he has an opportunity to get immensely talented athletes , does not mean he is a good coach !
I wouldn't trust him w a jr high team
He is lucky to be where he is!
I pray Sam doesnt go anywhere near here!!!
Simmons is the whore of coaching
He will latch on to anyone who could possible meke himself better
If he were actually good ....
He should start his own team and get some sponsorship , but he can't
I SHOULD SAY A REAL AND SPONSORED TEAM !!!!
my bad
sad day for sam !!!
its already announced on the ADP web site
only saving grace is there are other great athletes up here for Sam to train with !
This.

OK.
But what's up with James Li? I don't get why Sam would be told to leave. I'd love an answer to this question.
Checked Sam's Facebook page and he very kindly explained being in Colorado Springs and thanked NIKE for their support.
His road racing seems to be good enough to keep support (recently 2nd at New Haven).
Why doesn't he go to NB and his old coach that worked so well? He could join NB Boston. Doubt Nike was paying him much. They keep Hasay on the payroll so they must be keeping him which is why he went to Simmons.
I have to disagree. A lot of people have left Simmons over the years and there are reasons for this. Although his athletes burn out after a year or two, he can coach well enough, but the character is weak.

ADP is an acronym for American Distance Project, a "non-profit" run by distance coach Scott Simmons.
http://www.americandistanceproject.com
Given ADP is one of the biggest companies in the country, I think American Distance Project needs to be written out to prevent confusion.
Didn't he run 13:04 indoors under Coogan? Did they have a falling out?
Since he is not going to a Nike-specific team anyway, why not return to NH to train with Ben True? Is it because True is coached (sort of) by T. Broe as part of a Saucony initiative? Is it for altitude? The NH thing seemed to work for him . . . .
Has it never occurred to you knuckleheads that he may have looked at all this options before he decided or you just assume that Sam is stupid not to explore all the options.
A lot of people have left Hudson, Salazar, Cook, Insert Name Here over the years and there are reasons for this.

Sad news.
Fact 1 - WCAP team has also relocated to Colorado Springs.
Fact 2 - Chelanga, a 10k guy, will now be training with the 2nd and 3rd fastest 10k athletes (Shadrack and Lenny) in the United States
Fact 3 - This will be a better move for his career.
Fact King is a realist and can answer all questions about this transition.

Yes, would like to know what's up with this. 27:54, 13:27 this year. Those are pretty solid times. Did Li get pressure from the sponsor, or is he limited on the number of athletes he can take on, so maybe he's making room for someone else? Younger and with more upside?
And lot of shade on Simmons here, what's up with that?
Let's sum-up to this point (if you don't feel like reading through all the previous redundant posts):
1.) Everyone feels sorry for Chelanga. He is a good person.
2.) Simmons is an evil man. He lacks any morals.
For what it's worth, I don't know Chelanga & can't comment/won't comment on him. But, I have met Simmons (on multiple occasions) & have had "business" contact with him as well. Nothing people say about him surprises me (see #2).
