BS propagated by money seeking doctors. It's not that hard to figure out if a stress fracture healed. In fact there's nothing wrong with running (a limited amount) on a stress fracture.
Yeah going to the Dr. for a stress frx is an absolute waste of time (and money). It doesn't need to be completely healed for you to start running. 5wks should be plenty of time for a met. stress frx. Start with some easy runs on grass paying attention to the pain (is it dull or sharp?) Sharp pain means you need some more time off, dull pain means you can push through a bit.
