Because it sounds phony as hell. No one is actually DEVASTATED when a celeb dies and they run to twitter to tell everybody how devastated they are. They're not even sad but they have to exaggerate it for the sake of the drama and the likes. But let's face it, this word was made popular the last couple of years. We didn't see it around that often. So it's a trend that's probably going to fade over the years.
