The swimmers gave the Rio police a gift. The police have been fighting scandals ,all time murders and an increase across all crimes by 25%! They are a public embasament. This was a gift to help a very tarnished image. Hopefully when all the athletes at out of the country some light can be shed on one of the most corrupt, lawless cities in the world. Let's see who gets the last laugh.
Brazil is great. Been there (mostly Rio) many times. Is there crime? Oh yes, unlike Chicago, New York and LA. :-)
Filing a false report and, due to their high profile, distracting the police with that (something not taken lightly in the US either) was criminal. A donation to a charity (""You go there, and these kids have nothing," the heavyweight said today at a pre-event press conference for UFC 134, which takes place Saturday at HSBC Arena in Rio. "Literally, nothing, and they're as happy as can be.). That's actually light punishment for these relatively wealthy folks. To a charity, not to the police. I care, and I thought the Rio police handled this well. Despite a pile of lies. They were also extorted at the gas station, where they were offered a choice of a small repair cost or the station calling the police?
Maturity lacking in far too many of the responses here, let alone the OP.
