What if you learn a trade and make 25-30 dollars/hr two years after HS? Without 100k in debt with 4% interest.
Inflation tends to grind off value with even modest inflation. Go slow-motion through college while making the 25-30/hr. In a few years you can transition with a solid work history and college degree.
Coach D is right. There has to be real money waiting after high school, and some infrastructure to develop while getting paid AND not getting stellar results. Not much of that in running. Per my original point, if it did happen, then why not give it a try? If it doesn't work out, go back to school.
