It's the least he could do seeing as he tripped Mo up. Plus, he knew he was not going to be in the medal hunt, so at least he found a way to make a few headlines and get people fawning over him ( = more endorsement $).

And this is coming from a Brit. You guys should appreciate what you have as it maybe a few generations until you get another Rupp.
You Brits should appreciate Farah. It maybe a few generations before you get another import as good as him.

EXACTLY!
How can all you fanboys ignore this? The only reason Rupp went back to check on Mo is guilt.
Rupp tripped Mo.
Rupp is Zola Budd!
You fanboys are delusional.

After last night, I reckon he could bring home the Gold for the USA. Get behind him! He looks to be in phenomenal shape and I remember watching him in your trails 'walking' the first half of that race. He had plenty left in the tank that day, expecting 2:06-2:07 from him for the win.
Go Galen!
I wasn't aware he was in a trail race.

Where did you hear that?
Kara and Magness told him. Incidentally, the "homeless guy" was actually Blankenship.

If Rupp is Zola Budd, does that make Mo, Mary Decker?

Farah won legitimately this time as Rupp due to his Marathon Training (145 Mile Weeks) did not have the leg speed to go with the leaders at the end.
Marathon strength should have made his kick better, not worse. They only closed in 55.
Well now we all know you've never done anything close marathon training.
Obviously, no. The analogy is not complete. But Mo is Rupp's idol, and Rupp tripped him.
It's a real, real shame that Galen helped Mo. It was a great opportunity for everyone to leave him in the dust (finally), since the Kenyans took way too long getting down to 65-second laps.
I was hoping we'd seen the end of this clown. Instead, all we saw was history repeat itself as everyone played into his hands.
I don't know if they simply haven't realized that they need to go out at 26:40 pace to beat Mo's kick, or if there really, really isn't an East African capable of 26:40 anymore. Sad, either way.
Agreed...Rupp should have surged. Mo down his medal chances goes up, why help another country Gold medal threat back in contention. THAT WASN'T CLASSY IT WAS FOOLISH!

I think we all realise that.
Hmm, I should put my mid-d athletes on a marathon regimen then. To think I've had it wrong all this time, Yoinks!
Falling back was the stupid thing to do. He almost caused 3-4 more wrecks. Mo was fine. He wanted to make sure he was ok, which is fine. But the killer instinct would be to pick up the pace.
The Kenyans letting the first 2 miles go out in 9:10-20 is where the race was lost.
As for the coverage they missed it... They were showing the long jump.

You can't trip someone who runs into you from behind.

Incorrect. Mo's trailing foot hit Rupp's thigh as they were in a tight pack. There was lots of jostling in that race.
You didn't SEE that the first time, when it was live?? Dunce award to this poster.

I watched the video again. It shows that after Mo falls, Galen goes to an outer lane and drops back significantly. He then talks to Mo. See 1:10 in this video:

"I told him to get behind me after that and I’d help lead him back up,â€
Class act.

True class indeed. Would Mo have done the same? He doesn't seem to care if he falls back early in the race. Must be that confidence that comes with doping.
He did the same when Galen fell in the NYC half a few years back.
Wow, amazing insight. You should be one of the "analyzer" people. Incredible.

Since when is the Olympic 10K a relay race. I thought the whole idea was to get an individual medal in the top 3. If Rupp sacrificed himself for Mo, than shame on him.

If you think marathon training helps your 10K kick, then you don't do either well.
