Totally agree. Just nonsense, a word salad.

you guys find hard facing truths.
How many runners are there in the world? 200,000,000 That's my guess two hundred million.
We don't need your silly test to find out who has talent. All they have to do is train and race.
You're welcome.

this guide is better for coaches than hobbie joggers like you, ok?
let discuss more in-depths.
I'm not angry. Why would you think your juvenile opinsions make me angry?
does anybody have another version of pbs in retrospect to performances with minimal training?
"Hobbie joggers" are the only people sitting on the couch for six months.
"Coaches" hanging around looking for people who have been sitting on the couch for six months don't have jobs, so they aren't coaches.
End of story.
so let say to break a 26min 10k barrier, he needs to break 30 min on 25 mpw first within months, agree?
This 4 month long test is certainly better than the combination of on the spot genetic and physiological tests currently available. Well done.
Dude, this stuff is golden! Why are you sharing this for free on LRC, when you could be making big $$$ charging people to read it.Someone's probably already stealing your ideas and putting them into a book - maybe even a patent.
Wow really? wrote:

i am not here to be throned and praised. i am just asking for modification and discussions.
Perusing this board last night, as I often do, I stumbled upon your memo. I almost always find something amazing here, and have made a habit of printing out the very best material. The pile of pages is naturally quite large--but let me just say that your write-up went right to the top of the stack. I read it, and read it again, and spent the following hour pondering its brilliance. This methodology is simply groundbreaking. I am duly impressed by your keen insights into running physiology.
I represent a small program in the northwest US and I would love to engage you in a consultant capacity. Your out of the box thinking is sure to bring only the best runners to my door. What is your rate for a six month relationship?
Please note that I would like a slight modification to your plan. If you can inject a small amount of special "vitamin" into your test runners (I will provide you with all necessary supplies), we can better assess their abilities to withstand the true rigors of my special methodology.
Look forward to working with you!
kid: "hey i'd like to join the xc team"
coach: "Sure, but I see you've been doing some hiking. I'll need you to sit on the couch for the next 6 months so I can properly asses your talents and potentials"
good thread, i needed a fun one this morning.
I got off the couch and ran a marathon one morning. It felt so good that I did again after work. And then again the next two mornings.
Then I started running across the USA.
And I realized my greatest potential was to sit in the RV and receive loads of sausage everyday from Dustbin and Michael Spienchter.
Could your test have predicted that?

1. Get off the couch to run 1500 meter time trial
2. Subtract 10-20 seconds (ego adjustment)
3. Post thread on LRC. I just ran X:XX completely untrained, what's my potential?
4. Read responses.
5. Go back to the couch devastated.
That's Great! Thanks for posting!
