A further 45 athletes have tested positive for banned substances after a second set of samples from the London and Beijing Olympics were re-analysed.
Of these, 23 were medallists from the 2008 Games, according to the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
IOC president Thomas Bach added that his organisation was committed to the "fight against doping".
The latest results bring the total number of athletes who have tested positive from 2008 and 2012 to 98.
Two more sets of retesting are due to take place as the crackdown continues.
Key details from second wave of retesting:
386 samples selected from 2008;
30 athletes tested positive;
From four sports and eight countries;
138 samples selected from 2012;
15 athletes tested positive;
From two sports and nine counties.
First wave of retesting:
454 samples selected from 2008;
30 athletes tested positive;
From six sports and 12 countries;
265 samples selected from 2012;
23 athletes tested positive;

Is there a better source that Western state-run media?
"Of course, no names given"
The smear campaign is not against persons. -
It's not clear whether these are random samples, but ~8% positive rate seems depressingly high. If you're Chris Christie, though, it's no big deal.

Depressingly high? It's 35% lower than the percentage of athletes who said they doped in that survey run at a recent World Championships (the research that Nick Davies tried to sweep under the carpet). -
"smear campaign"? huh? these people should be absolutely shamed publicly. considering previous protocol, it's doubtful that anything will ever become of these new revelations.

I actually figured out why this person is confused, there were 30 athletes who tested positive in both samples. I think confused assumed they were the same 30. I don't think they were. -
Some sources are saying one of the positives is from the 1500m final!!!!!!

There's a difference between a source and a prediction.
