Is your name Mike Petterson? LOL What a crock.

In looking at many of the results at the CDN Championships it seems many top competitors going into the meet didn't achieve very good times. Not sure what is going on.

It's been sad to watch him go from Canada's best runner to a nobody.
It's time for him to leave OP along with a few others before it's too late.
If I were Cam's coach for a day I'd say cut your mileage and work on your speed. You look tired out there.
I realize so many coaches and you people here believe high mileage is the key. Alberto makes them pound out huge mileage and for most it just leads to injury.
I'm a believer in Jack Daniel's (not the booze you smart asses) theory of the running just enough to get the results you want.
Do you really believe that running 125+ miles per week will make you a better 800m or 1500m runner than the person who runs half that?
Show me scientific proof if you do.
Well for starters he is a 10k / 5k runner and with his old coach some of his miles are like 9min miles. It's documented that when he went to Salazar he ran had him run his off days at a pace like rupp, LEVINS even said he never even thought about running his off days so fast until he met Salazar... Lydiard used to say when you were burned out go for a couple long runs back to back at a slow pace. LSD never burned someone out. May make some slow...but luckily for LEvins that was not the case! Plus he clearly had a great coach who balanced it with some good hard workouts and everything was butter. At the end of the day everyone just wants to see him do well again, he's a LR cult hero for crying out loud!!!

He could have ran that in uni
+1
This is what happens when they stop taking the sauce.
Considering that all his pr's are from 2013-2014-2015, the criticism here of the coaching is hard to understand. He had an ankle injury last year and has run poorly since. His 10000m pr was at Pre in May 2015, 27:07.51, and then he had the injury. He also has 3:36/13:15 pr's. All under Salazar, and despite the fact that he is essentially training fodder for Rupp.
Parbuster wrote:
Oh another year long race injury you say? Then why is he constantly running if he's injured?
.
Because once you sign the contract you are a slave. No performance, no training = reduction clause
I don't know what the specific injury is, or why it hasn't been corrected. Why don't you phone up AL and ask him.

yes he has had good races like the 27:07 but was likely in that shape during his SR. year.
LOL... nope.

All of his base was pre Alberto. Then Alberto sharpens him and cam sets a few prs. Since then cam has no improved. Showing that the current training is failing.

Duh. They're Canadian. Slow.

If he got in the same types of races his SR year he would have ran similar times at a younger age
Or it could be the AC system that is set up to allow athletes to slide onto the team having already run standard without having to make an honest effort at the National Championships. Their overthinking what the US has been able to achieve with fair and transparent qualification rules - first three with standard at Olympic Trials are on the team - results in the skewed results we are seeing. Joke.
You all are either trolling or just dense. He clearly knows he is on the team and clearly just ran even pace. He was with everyone with a lap to go and just kept at the same pace. The deal is probably he had to run at the trials.
Do you not remember he ran a 1:48 earlier this year in the middle of high mileage.
So much silliness on these forums.
It is cold and windy in Edmonton today not good weather for fast times
Did it snow last night? They had to shovel the track, right?
Hey sweetie wake up from your dream because Levins is not on the team. He has the 4th best time in Canada in the 5000m this year and he has no races in the 10000m in 2016.
This is according to Athletics Canada so I think I have the facts right.
He's not on the team.......yet.

Trust me, he does not know he is on the team. Proving fitness is not easy - this is a standard that he chose, and it can't be a slow standard. So I can't see how he makes it given that he has not met the criteria.
Look at Coolsat - even he is having trouble getting named - and he is running a lot faster than Cam.

What about real world proof?
1960 Olympic final
mileage (gold) over intervals (silver)

I am more inclined to believe it's his previous couches who did him in.
Levins had too many couches, and it was hard to move around in his house.

Mike Peterson ran a 4:10 mile in Kansas in high school, not bad at all.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
